Charges Dropped for Duke LaCrosse Players

North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper has announced the charges against the three accused Duke LaCrosse players have been dropped.

There is insufficient evidence to pursue the case.

Now, how do these young men expunge their records and have these charges removed from their files?

Mr. Cooper has said he believes the accused to be innocent. This should go a long way in helping their reputations but the courts need to expunge the records and make them whole again.

Now on to Mike Nifong, who is the one who dragged the names of these young men through the mud in the first place.

The Attorney General of North Carolina has nothing good to say about Nifong.

Using the word “innocent” to describe their status will go a long way in restoring their reputations, but the accusation of a felony should be removed from their records.

It has been a long year for these young men, but justice has finally prevailed.

One Response to “Charges Dropped for Duke LaCrosse Players”

What I find extremely appalling about this whole situation is that the media and yes even many across the blogosphere jumped quickly many months ago to believe that because these men came from well do to families they were guilty. Worse yet, I checked around and very few of those sites/organizations have said much more today than the charges have been dropped.

We truly IMO have lost our way in this country when being elected to public office is more important than the basic rights we are all afforded under the Constitution. May these young men and their families find some peace tonight for the first time in 13 months and may Mike Nifong receive his just punishment in the near future if he is found guilty of ethics and other charges.
