With all the political fighting going on I ponder what our country is coming to. I wonder if we can ever again speak to someone from the opposing party about politics or even life without dissent from one or both parties.
I am the only person in my biological family who is not a Democrat (not counting my children), and I am finding it more and more difficult to discuss the issues of the day with people I love dearly because it inevitably turns into an argument. Or one will agree with me just to agree and then disagree with me as soon as my back is turned, or even later on to my face.
But through it all, God has given us the recipe for peace and love if we but listen to Him.
Just when I needed it most I heard it at today’s Prayer Service from the White House and now I see it on our sidebar as the verse of the day:
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, turn from our wicked ways. Do that and God will heal our land.
Keep rejecting Him and things will only get worse, and unfortunately, we all have that original sin in us that makes us want to be proud and give in to the temptations of the day.
The map to life is all there in the book we call the Bible, but many refuse to believe it. You can’t argue with someone who does not wish to hear what you have to say about God. All I can do is tell them about the Savior and how to be saved from hell, and then it’s up to them. My hands are then washed of their blood, but it’s so hard to know someone you love is determined to self-destruct no matter what.
There are none so blind as those who will not see.
America, come back to God, Who has blessed us more than any other country or He will remove that blessing from us. He is patient, but His patience is not forever if we refuse to do as He asks.

it’s impossible sometimes to talk to another family member when you do all the talking. Sometimes you have to listen.
