Guss,

I'm not suggesting Christian Democrats support abortion. My question is how, given the fact they probably do not support abortion, can they stay in a party that has an abortion on demand plank in its platform.

Maybe other issues are bigger and more important to them and that's why they support the Democratic party.

You're taking a simple question as an accusation and it was not nor was it intended to be.

Pro-Life Democrats Applaud Supreme Court Ruling

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court upheld the ban on partial-birth abortions. Democrats For Life of America applauds the Supreme Court for the landmark ruling that up held this ban. The decision closes the book on partial-birth abortions in America and finally puts this deplorable procedure in the history books where it belongs. In the majority decision, Justice Kennedy wrote, "The Act proscribes a method of abortion in which a fetus is killed just inches before completion of the birth process. Congress determined that the abortion methods it proscribed had a 'disturbing similarity to the killing of a newborn infant'." It is extremely encouraging for the pro-life community that Congress is finally starting to recognize the rights of the unborn. According to the Guttmacher Institute, of the 1.3 million abortions in 2000 - the most recent data available - 2,200 involved this procedure.

Pro-Life Democrat Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE), who is a prominent pro-life advocate, issued the statement, "I agree with today’s decision by the Supreme Court. When Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito sat in my office before their confirmation hearings, they pledged they would interpret the law, not make the law. Today’s decision is a victory."

The Supreme Court's upholding of this ban is a step in the right direction; however, as indicated by these numbers, much still has to be done to protect the rights of the unborn. Democrats For Life of America renews its commitment to speak for those who can't speak for themselves. The more members we have, the louder our voice becomes. Join DFLA in our fight to ensure that women and their babies are protected!

Guss,

This is not an attack on you or on all Democrats. You posted a piece that said there are Christian Democrats who support pro-choice.

I stated I can't get my arms around the idea of a Christian condoning the murder of babies (and that's what abortion on demand is to me, I'm sorry) and supporting a party that has it as a huge plank in its platform.

Now, I didn't call Democrats baby-killers and I didn't say all Democrats are bad. I didn't even make a judgment. I simply asked someone who professes to be a practicing Christian Democrat to explain to me how he or she justifies supporting a party that supports abortion on demand.

If that offends you, I'm sorry. It certainly wasn't my intent, and I will admit to my first paragraph in the first post being snarky, but I labeled no party as plenty of Republicans are just as guilty.

There are many things in the Democratic Party that I don't agree with. That doesn't make me any less of a Democrat.
Do you agree with everything in the Republican Party?
I think it's pretty arrogant for someone to think that they have the moral authority to judge others and think that they know what's in their hearts.

Pro-choice or pro-abortion. It's all the same to me: it's government sanctioned murder of unborn babies for any reason or no reason. No questions asked. Step right up and have your abortion. Next!

Here's what I can't get my arms around: I believe there are Democrats who are Christian, but since Christianity teaches killing an unborn child is a sin, how do these Christian Democrats reconcile themselves to the Democratic platform, which has for years proclaimed a "woman's right to choose"?

Unless life of the unborn is not an issue to them I just can't fathom how they can go along with that official policy of the party and still feel they are in fellowship with God's Will.

If someone can give me a satisfactory answer to this question in my mind I'll be happy to consider it.
