Kim from Musing Minds has tagged me with a meme.
I’m supposed to tell you eight things you don’t know about me. Hmmm.
1. In my younger days when I was married just a couple of years and we had televisions with tubes in them I used to diagnose and fix my own TV. I got a few shocks but fixed the TV.
2. I also repaired my own washing machine in those days. We bought it used and couldn’t afford a repairman. Since I was the one at home I fixed the machine more than once. I left the dryer to my husband as it was easier to repair. ![]()
3. As a young girl I would climb high up in trees and then cry because I’m afraid of heights and I couldn’t get down. Somehow I managed though.
4. I love the cold winters and snow of my native state of Maine.
5. My husband and I met on a blind date arranged by my best friend and my husband’s fraternity brother who was her boyfriend. We double-dated.
6. My cousin/brother Guss, a group of other kids and I would either steal cigarettes or roll our own from butts found and use brown paper bags for the paper. We would hide out in the blackberry bushes to smoke, thinking we were getting away with something. Problem was it was right outside the kitchen window where our grandfather always sat and we always got caught. Everyone else got out ahead of me and I got snagged with the stickers on the bushes and with the spanking from our great-aunt.
7. My birth family call me Susan though that’s not a part of my name. My husband and all my friends from adulthood call me Jeanette. I never answer to Susan unless I’m around birth family and never answer to Jeanette if I’m around birth family. Just instinct.
8. When hanging around my mother’s side of the family I find myself speaking what Indian I know, but never think in Indian unless I’m around them.
That’s eight and since I hate memes and can’t think of anyone to pester it will have to continue without me.
Thanks, Kim. ![]()
Mike Nifong, the runaway prosecuter in the Duke lacrosse case, told the NC Bar Association he felt he should be disbarred.
The court recessed to consider his punishment and came back and agreed he should be disbarred. He was found guilty of 27 of 32 charges against him.
If you want to follow the video on a delayed basis you can find it at WRAL TV in Raleigh, NC, which has covered this entire trial and has all the video in the archives.
Now he will have to face the presiding judge in the courtroom to see if he will be held in contempt and what other punishment will be meted out to him.
Justice, at last, has been served for these 3 boys and their families.
I want to apologize for my absence the last couple of days, but I have been busy.
I feel bittersweetness about the passing of Mrs. Graham, as I know her husband and children will miss her physically, but sweet because I know she is now in eternity with the Lord she served so well all her life.
Something else has happened that I have been witness to and I am so happy about it I just can’t stop smiling.
A dear couple we know have accepted Jesus as their Savior and we are so very happy for them and want to encourage them to build their faith.
Certainly the angels in Heaven are rejoicing at the spiritual birth of these new saints, and the topping on the cake is the homecoming of Mrs. Ruth Bell Graham, a woman I have admired for a long time and wish I could be half the Christian she was.
God has been good to me all my life, but I have experienced such a thrill and blessing this week that I can barely contain it all.
