Proceed with caution if you are a coffee drinker or enjoy a bit of cheese with your meal or as a snack.

$600-a-pound coffee

Human hands don’t harvest the beans that make this rare brew. They’re plucked by the sharp claws and fangs of wild civets, catlike beasts with bug eyes and weaselly noses that love their coffee fresh.

I think I’ll leave the rest to the reader but for those weak of stomach, please do not eat while reading. I would like to say enjoy, however….

Now I’m really glad I don’t like coffee!

Tonight I had my first and last taste of buffalo steak. It was richer than beef, and it tasted good at first bite, but after chewing the bite-sized piece used as an appetizer, I found I didn’t like it as well as beef. Some kind of Indian I am, huh?

I was hoping you would see this!

Was the meat tougher than beef or only was it the flavor you found less appealing?

Hope you two had a great first day with the family.

It was very tender and they recommend not cooking it any more than medium as it doesn’t have the fat beef has and tends to dry if cooked more than medium. We had it medium rare, which is how I like my steaks and roasts. It tasted good when I first put it into my mouth, but after chewing it, it just didn’t taste as good to me. Everyone else loved it—especially Patrick, our 10 year old grandson.

It sounds as if everyone had a good time.

Get a good nights rest so you are ready for whatever tomorrow brings. I am certain those two young ones will keep you very busy.

We’ve had a wonderful day. The kids and Grandpa went swimming while Mommy and I visited and then our son got here after work. We went to eat at the Rain Forest Cafe but the wait was 90 min. so we made lunch reservations for Sunday and the kids still bought their toys there. We then went to a place affiliated with Bass Pro shops and ate there. Very expensive but the food was good and everyone enjoyed it.

They make their own beer so our son got the sampler, which was 8 small glasses of different beers and ales.

We had homemade cream soda and brought some of that and some homemade root beer back with us. Very good.
