More on the Fox News Boycott
The other day I wrote about some groups such as Moveon.org and Daily Kos organizing a boycott of Fox News Advertisers.
Today, I get the news that it goes deeper than at first thought.
Here’s a little bit of the story to show you some of the organizations in charge of this boycott:
Yesterday, I wrote about MoveOn.org, the Daily Kos and the Campaign for America’s Future joining forces to silence the conservative voices on FNC. I’ve now uncovered more information who’s all involved in this unholy alliance. First, I went to CAF’s About Us page. Here’s what it said:
Over 100 Prominent Americans, citizen activists and policy experts concerned about our country and our planet, joined together to launch and build the Campaign for America’s Future. We are challenging the big money corporate agenda by encouraging Americans to speak up, to discuss and debate a new vision of an economy and a future that works for all of us.
America’s Future insists that the question of falling wages and rising insecurity be placed at the center of our national debate. We challenge those who suggest that nothing can be done and expose the conservative agenda that has made things worse. America’s Future works to revitalize a progressive agenda, and fights to make this economy work for working people once again. We engage citizens, activists and political leaders in a renewed debate about the kind of country, and the kind of world, we want to build for the generations yet to come.
When I read the line about CAF being a group of citizen activists and policy experts, red flags galore went off so I went to their advisors page. Here’s some of the people that serve as advisors to CAF:
Ann Beaudry, PFAW; Mary Frances Berry, US Commission on Civil Rights; Julian Bond, NAACP Board Chair; Hodding Carter; Betty Friedan; Tom Hayden, ex-husband of Jane Fonda, fmr. Gore Campaign manager; Denis Hayes, Earth Day founder; Jim Hightower, Hightower Radio; Patricia Ireland, fmr. Pres. NOW; Jesse L. Jackson, Rainbow Coalition; Gerald W. McEntee, AFSCME; Howard Metzenbaum, US Senator (retired); Robert Reich, Brandeis University, Former Secretary of Labor; Mark Ritchie, Inst for Agriculture and Trade Policy; John J. Sweeney, AFL-CIO; Richard Trumka, AFL-CIO.
Does that sound like a list of “citizen activists”? In my opinion, it sounds more like a group of paid lobbyists and Democratic strategists. That’s why I did more digging. In CAF’s FAQ page, someone asked if they could contribute to their organization. The unsurprising response was “Yes!” They then linked to a secure website to contribute online. After that, they listed this address for people wanting to simply send a check via snail mail:
Campaign for America’s Future
1825 K Street, NW, Suite 400
Washington, DC 20006Please make your check out to “Campaign for America’s Future.”
I didn’t think that citizen activists maintained offices on K Street in Washington, DC. That’s because K Street is known for housing major lobbying firms. That’s why I’ve nicknamed K Street the Lobbyists’ Lair. I’ll stand by that nickname.
Read the rest of the story on Let Freedom Ring Blog. It will open your eyes to the concerted effort to shut down conservative free speech on our nation’s television airwaves.

Rather frightening to think who is pulling the strings don’t you think?
I thought freedom of speech was the mantra for many of those involved in this attempt to shut down Fox News. Not for one second do I believe they will succeed.

They won’t succeed but they’ll put plenty of money and effort into trying. Maybe Soros should try to buy Fox News from Murdoch.

Could you imagine the meeting of those two minds J?

Personally I couldn’t care less if they’re taken off the air. Maybe if they got rid of the likes of Hannity and O’Reilly, I could put Fox News channel back on my receiver.

From your link on first post.
Looks like he started it.
Lets see who finishes it.
The groups seem particularly angry at Fox’s Bill O’Reilly, who has done critical reports on left-wing bloggers. On July 16, O’Reilly said the DailyKos.com Web site is “hate of the worst order,” and sent a reporter to question JetBlue Airways Corp. CEO Dave Barger about the airline’s sponsorship of a gathering run by DailyKos.

Not everyone is going to let O’Reilly bully them.

I don’t like O’Reilly either. I don’t watch Hannity and Colmes although it’s a liberal and conservative show akin to the old CNN Crossfire. These are both commentary shows. The hard news like Shepherd Smith and Brit Hume’s show are what I watch when I watch it.
Let me ask you a question: How would you like it if someone made a concerted effort to shut down CNN, MSNBC or any other left-wing channel by threatening their advertisers with boycotts?
The left has Chris Matthews, Olberman, Tim Russert, Stephanopolous, Matt Lauer, CBS, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher and others. That’s a lot more than what Fox has and it seems the conservatives should be able to hear shows with their point of view as well as the tripe the other networks throw at us.
And your video is one of the things they are throwing around, so I’m not surprised to see it. Jet Blue was sponsoring a gathering of Kossites who are as left as left can be without falling off the face of the earth.

Go to the second link and see who the bullies are who are trying to knock Fox News off the air.

When I hear these special interest groups accuse the right of trampling on the Constitution it irritates me no end as that is exactly what they are doing in this instance.
Most who watch Fox News would not attempt to deny anyone their right to view whatever program they wish on whatever channel they wish. Why are these groups and those who support them so afraid of Fox? I think that is the real question here.

I listen to big mouth O’Reilly threatening Democrats. People are just tired of it and aren’t going to take it anymore. He deserves what he gets. I can’t imagine anyone taking up for any network. Poor baby’s.

It’s amazing that we have nothing better to talk about than Fox News being threatened by Democrats. The only time we get comments is when we write crap like this. I’m just about fed up with the whole blogging thing.

I do not think you will get any argument here when it comes to Bill O’Reilly. He is no different than all the talking heads on both sides of the aisle who believe their own press and think America will buy in to their opinion only. And I do mean all of them, on both sides.
That is the crux of this problem though Guss, you do not see groups who support the right attempting to shut down political radio show hosts or television networks which lean left. This whole thing is ridiculous and once they recognize they will not shut down free speech, I am sure another cause will present itself.

Don’t you think that it’s about time we stop taking sides in this country?
It seems like all we do is spend time defending political parties or writing obituaries. These people don’t give a crap about us. All they care about is getting reelected and becoming lobbyist. It’s all about them and we act like a little sheep following them no matter how outrageous they become.
Before I give my vote to another Republican or Democrat, they’ll have to earn it and I don’t mean by fancy talk. I mean by passing legislation that will benefit me in some way. I’m tired of supporting these jerks when they give me nothing in return.

I think we have all said that at one time or another Guss. That is what is so frustrating about something like this.
The lobbyists and special interest groups control most members in congress and we the people just get jerked around all the time.
It all needs to stop and then we can get back to the form of government our founders had in mind.

Just what is it you want the politicians to give you?
Wasn’t it JFK who said, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country”?
When, since his 1961 speech did we begin to ask what the country can do for us and not what we can do for it?
If you would bother to check others blogs as I have asked you to do many times, you will see it is customary to report the deaths of famous people. I won’t apologize for doing it here and I won’t stop doing it.
If you are really fed up with this blogging thing then maybe you and I need to talk privately and decide what direction you want to take.

Although he held great promise for this country. President Kennedy did the same as most politicians. They promise everything and give you nothing. I must admit that they make you feel good with their rhetoric.
