Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Newly elected French President Nicolas Sarkozy has said if diplomacy doesn’t work in getting Iran to give up their nuclear capabilities the only other option would be Iran bombing someone or someone bombing Iran.
Sarkozy said a nuclear-armed Iran would be unacceptable and that major powers should continue their policy of incrementally increasing sanctions against Tehran [...]

“The Ghosts of Anbar” Part II

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Michael Yon has posted part two of “The Ghosts of Anbar.”
Another interesting read for those keeping up with the series. Great facts about conditions on the ground and terrific pictures again.
Just a snippet which I found to be very revealing.
Dealing with the press is just a reality, like the weather. We would [...]

Monday, August 27th, 2007

This is amazing, Why hasn’t someone thought of this before? There are still geniuses in government.

When Are These Churches Going To Lose Their Tax Exempt Status For Holding Campaign Rallies During Services?

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Barack Obama is the latest of the Democratic presidential candidates to attend a Sunday worship service and give a campaign speech.
When is the IRS going to crack down on churches that allow this?
I guess when a Republican tries it.

Monday, August 27th, 2007

The agreement by the five leaders was one of the most [...]

Survey Reveals Geographic Illiteracy

Monday, August 27th, 2007

If this wasn’t so sad it would be funny.
In a nation called the world’s superpower, only 17 percent of young adults in the United States could find Afghanistan on a map, according to a new worldwide survey released today.
The young U.S. citizens received poor marks generally in geography. But then, as results showed, their [...]

Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins to Go Healthier

Monday, August 27th, 2007

I wonder if it will taste as good.
Dunkin’ Donuts, the food-on-the-go chain whose name celebrates a treat that’s symbolic of unhealthy eating, is trying to refresh its image by largely eliminating trans fat across its menu, Homer Simpson be damned.
Dunkin’ planned to announce Monday that it has developed an alternative cooking oil and reformulated [...]

Iraq Sunnis say deal won’t end boycott

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Let’s stop kidding ourselves. These people don’t want peace. Let’s pull out and let them have at it.
A new political accord between Iraq’s main Sunni Arab, Shi’ite and Kurdish leaders will not be enough to lure boycotting Sunni Arabs back into the government, a spokesman for the biggest Sunni Arab bloc said on Monday.
In [...]

Behind Bush’s History Lesson

Monday, August 27th, 2007

I didn’t think that Karl was out. I can’t prove it but I think that he still has his nasty little fingers in the pie.
K arl Rove may be leaving the Bush administration, but at least one aspect of Rovism — the effort to try to pivot off a perceived political liability and turn it [...]

Hillary Clinton held a fund-raiser at her favorite vacation spot, Martha’s Vineyard, Saturday.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Does The Right Thing

Friday, August 24th, 2007

I hope that this doesn’t offend anyone.
To many, he was “Bush’s Brain,” the master tactician who would stop at nothing to advance the political agenda of George W. Bush.
But to a growing number of experts within the Beltway and beyond, a more sinister portrait is emerging of former White House political adviser Karl Rove: [...]

You, Too, Can Have A Bionic Body

Friday, August 24th, 2007

I’ll take one.
Susan Burke’s left knee was humbling her. At 54, she wanted to hike and whitewater raft through the national parks or, at the very least, to stroll around the block with her husband at night, as she’d always done. Instead, she could barely walk from her desk to her office parking lot [...]
