Going to Hell in a Handbasket

Sometimes I just think this world is going to hell in a handbasket, and I long for the day when I will be in God’s Eternal Kingdom and no longer have to worry about what’s going on in this world.

I feel that God has begun to withdraw His blessing from our own country and yet I pray for the sake of the believers He will not completely withdraw His blessing from us.

We turn our heads and look the other way on sin that God declared is sin from the beginning of our awareness of Him. We try to justify it as being a sign of modern times and modern thinking, but if God said it was wrong a million years ago it’s still wrong today.

We allow our unborn to be killed in utero because it’s the woman’s body. Guess what? Our bodies are God’s and not ours.

Yet, because we are human, we constantly sin. That’s why we should go to Him daily confessing our sins in order to be sanctified by Him. Sanctification is not something you can grab onto and keep unless you treat your mind and body as God wants you to treat it. It does not affect your salvation, but we are to be as pure as possible before our Lord. That’s why we pray for forgiveness of our sins, and we do it daily.

Our bodies are not our own and when people realize that maybe we can get back on track.

Unfortunately I just see us getting worse with demands of same-sex marriage, pedophilia, doing anything that is pleasurable to us and nothing that is pleasing to God, our Creator.

I have felt strongly about these issues for a long time.

I know you believe every word of this post and that it is written from the heart.

There are many reasons this country is faced with the difficulties we have today and I believe you have eloquently stated many of them.

    Thanks for a great post.

  • Shirley:

    J, good post.

I’m afraid we have to lay the blame at the feet of the Body of Christ (whatever denomination). Many denominations have changed to reflect “The World”. We weren’t called to reflect the world, we were called to change the world by the preaching of the Gospel.

Jesus died on the Cross not just for our salvation but for our sanctification as well. What we, as believers must do is put our faith in what Christ did at the Cross and that will enable the Holy Spirit to work in our lives so others will see Christ in us. Amen!!!

  • Shirley:

I also firmly believe that God will always have His remnant in this country moreso than in any other country and He will protect us as a nation. We don’t deserve it because we fail Him so often in so many ways but our God is a God of mercy!

  • Truman:

Shirley, you’re right. The body of Christ in America has gone wildly astray, looking for feel-good answers and “new” things, instead of listening to what the Master actually says.

There’s a huge Joyce Meyer convention close to where I’m sitting right now. I have to wonder what they’re hearing: The gospel of prosperity? Dollars for prayers? God wants you to live the American dream?

Or will they really hear Christ crucified for our sins and a message of repentance, salvation and a total focus on the cross and His resurrection?

  • Shirley:

    Truman,

Sadly enough, I think we both know the answer to your question. Those who preach and teach Christ Crucified are few anymore. I know enough about her teachings to say that she isn’t one of the few.

I want to also add to my previous post that our protection as a nation by God depends on our treatment of Israel. So important as a nation to remember.

Also, thanks to J and Sue (I’m not sure whose blog this is..maybe both?) for providing a forum where we can post of such matters.

  • Shirley:

I might add that I don’t quite have the “check for typos BEFORE submitting post” option down pat yet either. One would think I would learn????

    Shirley,

I deleted your double post. This is a joint venture with Sue and me and Truman posting on faith issues more than I do.

I agree we have been blessed because of our friendship with Israel and if we ever withdraw that friendship we will certainly lose God’s blessing.

I do believe for the saved God continues to bless us, but it seems we are not as blessed as we once were.

And no wonder when you look at how many people laugh in the face of God and deny He exists. We’re turning into a mini-Europe.

  • Truman:

See this site…and weep. Chris R. updates this site DAILY with garbage being done in the name of Jesus in America.
