In 1976 I was proud to have worked the telephones at home and at campaign headquarters to try to get Ronald Reagan nominated for president over the incumbent Gerald Ford.

At the time I lived in North Carolina and Reagan’s candidacy looked dead in the water, but we worked and we worked hard.

He took the state and just barely lost the nomination.

I am again in a position to help put another presidential candidate I believe in back into or into a race for the presidency. This man is Fred Thompson and this time I live in South Carolina where he is campaigning hard.

I want as true a conservative as possible for my nominee and not Democrat lite who uses his faith to garner votes and at the same time wants to tax us to death among other things.

Huckabee released a felon from prison who then went on and committed another heinous crime of either rape or murder. That’s part of his record and it needs to be addressed, just as his taxing has to be addressed.

If you live in South Carlolina I am asking you to consider voting for Fred Thompson, the only true conservative on our side, on Saturday, January 19. Let South Carolina give Thompson the boost he needs to be competitive in this race.

He may be relaxed but he’s no fool.
