South Carolina Primary (D) Results
Updated: Results are in.
Those interested in following the results of today’s South Carolina Primary may want to check out this site.
They will begin posting results after the polls close this evening and generally do a decent job of updating the tally.
This was a huge win for Barack Obama. With 99% of the precincts reporting the results are as follows:
Obama 294,799 55%
Clinton 140,936 27%
Edwards 93,504 18%
This will be a difficult loss for the Clinton camp to spin. Will this translate to any further momentum for the Obama campaign? Time will tell.
I watched as Senator Obama delivered a rousing victory speech and it is not difficult to understand how he draws those in favor of his politics into his corner.
A few of his remarks here.
A Few Words From Barbara Bush
I have great admiration for the former First Lady.
Mrs. Bush has always handled herself with grace and it was always obvious that family was extremely important to her.
It seems as though little has changed in reading the exchanges in this interview:
On the difference between being wife of President George H.W. Bush and mother of President George W. Bush: “It hurts much more if your son’s president. My husband … he’s in agony half the time.”
“You hear people say things that are untrue and unfair. It really hurts. George W. doesn’t watch the press. He’ll call us … (and say) ‘I hear the TV, turn it off.’”
It is rare we hear much from the former First Family as I believe that they recognize that their small imprint on the history of this country is just that.
They have the capacity to move on and enjoy their lives knowing they gave all they could to the service of this nation.
The balance of this interview offers Mrs. Bush’s thoughts on foreign leaders, her relationship with her husband and a bit on her days in the White House.
