Why Are So Many Jews Still Democrats?
We all remember when Cynthia McKinney lost her congressional seat to another black woman. McKinney’s father came right out and said it was because of the J-E-W-S, Jooooos.
Now we have a congressional campaign in Tennessee where a Jewish man is the incumbent and the person running against him is an African American.
Take a look at an ad that was put out by a “preacher” not even in the district:

Now, most Jews don’t believe Jesus is the Messiah, but that doesn’t equate to hating Jesus.
Circulated by an African-American minister from Murfreesboro Tenn., which isn’t even in Cohen’s district, the literature encourages other black leaders in Memphis to “see to it that one and ONLY one black Christian faces this opponent of Christ and Christianity in the 2008 election.”
The flier was sent out by an African-American minister to try to defeat Rep. Cohen. Cohen’s main opponent in the August 5 Democratic primary in his predominantly African-American district is Nikki Tinker, who is black. The Commercial Appeal wrote an editorial in Wednesday’s paper condemning Tinker for not speaking out against the anti-Semitic literature.
“What does Nikki Tinker think about anti-Semitic literature being circulated that might help her unseat 9th District Congressman Steve Cohen in the Democratic primary next August?” the editorial asked. “The question goes to the character of the woman who wants to represent the 9th District, and 9th District voters deserve an answer. But Tinker declined to return a phone call about the flier.”
Indeed it goes to the challenger’s character.
In Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech he said he dreamed of an American where people would be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.
He must be spinning in his grave today.
I just wonder why so many Jews are Democrats when it is the Republican party that has always been their friend and the friend of Israel.
Mr. Cohen, join the Republican party and we will welcome you.
Jayson Javitz on Obama
Before the immigration blow-up at Polipundit I loved to read Jayson Javitz, as he seems so well informed about politics and tells it the way it is.
Today he has a column up at Wizbang that is a must read.
Here’s the introduction:
First things first: If you would have told me six months ago — hell, one month ago — that Clinton would be fighting for her political life against Obama, I would have said: “I’ll have what your smoking.”
“There’s no way,” I would have continued, “that the most ruthless politician since ‘Landslide’ Lyndon Johnson would allow a newbie Senator to end her presidential obsessions.”
Well, despite losing New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts *and* California(!), Obama has the same coin flip chance as Clinton to obtain the Democrat nomination. Which raises two questions: 1. How did this happen? 2. What are Obama’s chances in the Nov. general election?
Read the rest as it isn’t very long and it makes so much sense. I still love you, Jayson, even if you did put me on probation.
Those Pesky Numbers
The earmarks secured by the two Democratic Senators running for the Presidency:
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton helped secure more than $340 million worth of home-state projects in last year’s spending bills, placing her among the top 10 Senate recipients of what are commonly known as earmarks, according to a new study by a nonpartisan budget watchdog group.
Working with her New York colleagues in nearly every case, Clinton supported almost four times as much spending on earmarked projects as her rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.), whose $91 million total placed him in the bottom quarter of senators who seek earmarks, the study showed.
The earmarks secured by the Republican Senator running for the Presidency:
Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the likely GOP presidential nominee, was one of five senators to reject earmarks entirely, part of his long-standing view that such measures prompt needless spending.
Should this be a campaign issue? You betcha!
Remember Maggie Williams?
Maybe Hillary will pull out the Democratic nomination..I never count out a Clinton. It hasn’t looked good for her campaign recently. If it were me, I don’t know that I would have replaced one campaign manager with another that brings along memories of the past and the baggage both the Senator and former President carry:
Doyle has now been replaced by another loyalist, Maggie Williams, who served as Hillary Clinton’s chief of staff in the White House. Williams is someone to whom Clinton has turned in her moments of greatest peril. Former White House aides recall how in 1994 Williams planned and executed — without telling the press office — the famous soft-focus pink-sweater news conference, in which the First Lady talked about Whitewater and her cattle-futures trading for 66 min. Williams left the White House at the start of Bill Clinton’s second term, saddled with more than $300,000 in legal bills, after having been called to testify before the Senate Banking Committee about her role in the Whitewater damage-control effort. On the night of deputy White House counsel Vince Foster’s suicide, Williams and counsel Bernie Nussbaum combed Foster’s office for personal papers, and she was later criticized for allegedly removing a sheaf of documents that were locked away before eventually turning them over to attorneys.
It amazes me that people who had enormous legal fees and reputations tarnished for the sake of Mr. and Mrs. would continue to serve them. That’s politics I guess.
