Duty, Honor, Country v. Hope, Change, Empty Promises

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Thirty five years ago tomorrow the man who aspires to be our next President of the United States was released from captivity in Vietnam and returned to his homeland.
Watch as in this new campaign ad those who have known him well offer their assessment of the Senator McCain.

Duty, Honor, Country. Thank you [...]

Racism or Victimhood?

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Have you ever heard anything so pathetic?

I could never give this post the justice it deserves as well as The Anchoress, so I suggest you go over there and read what she has to say on this whole topic of victimhood.
Update: Here’s a quote of Jeremiah Wright’s from today’s Wall Street Journal:
In a sermon [...]

Friday Fly-By

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Reading this aticle about Ed McMahon brought back to mind the laughs that he and Johnny Carson provided to television viewers over their many years together.
They say some things can never be duplicated, I think the team of Carson and McMahon fit that description.

The title of this post would no doubt be deemed accurate by [...]

Facts are such stubborn little things…

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

What has been accomplished in Congress under the leadership of Mr. Reid and Mrs. Pelosi?
Find out all you need to know at Texas Rainmaker.
Progress, sheer backwards progress, (or perhaps an intentional lack thereof in a presidential election year…hmmm.).

Honesty is the Best Policy

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Just telling it like it is:
In the recent political battle around the Marine recruiting station in Berkeley there has been much confusion around the concept or slogan of “supporting the troops,” but opposing the unjust wars of the Bush regime. Many who oppose the Bush regime wars also say they [...]

Spitzer’s Wife

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

How many times have we seen it from politicians from both parties? They get caught up in a sex scandal and hold a press conference with their wives loyally standing behind them, eyes downcast, looking embarrassed and never speaking a word?
This is what I thought about when I saw Mrs. Spitzer, the latest and [...]

Florida Congressional Dems Opposed to Any Re-do of Vote

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Barack Obama’s camp is not giving any support of a re-vote in Florida, and the Florida Democratic Congressional delegation has said they don’t support a re-do, so it looks as though we’re back to a lock out for the Florida delegates if someone doesn’t soon blink.
Washington, DC – The Members of Florida’s Democratic Delegation in [...]

From Tuesday’s Omega Letter by Jack Kinsella

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Good News is No News
Until about a year ago, one couldn’t turn on the news without hearing something about the Iraq War. If it wasn’t a diatribe about how badly things are going, it was about how incompetent our leaders are.
Indeed, when President Bush announced the ’surge strategy’ last year, MSNBC ran the story [...]

President Bush in Rare Form

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Give a listen to President Bush perform his own rendition of the “Green, Green, Grass of Home.”
I only wish we could see him clearly (more than that I would have loved to have been there.)
Sure to make you laugh (or at least smile) regardless of your political preference.
Enjoy!

How Low Will They Go?

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Will Mrs. Clinton ask Ms. Ferraro to step down from her advisory campaign position for the following remarks?
Clinton campaign finance committee member, former vice presidential candidate, and former Rep. Geraldine Ferraro, D-NY, told the Daily Breeze of Torrance, Ca., that, “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And [...]

Makes Sense to Me

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

It seems that it’s going to be impossible for either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama to enter the convention in Denver in August and have enough delegates already to win the nomination.
It looks as though it will come down to the superdelegates, those upper-echelon of the Democratic Party who have it in their power to [...]

Tuesday Tid-Bits

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

New Idea magazine has done the right thing and apologized for their story which disclosed the deployment of Prince Harry:

“However, and more importantly, we do acknowledge that our actions in publishing [...]

Breaking:Governor of New York Tied to Prostitution Ring?

Monday, March 10th, 2008

The NYT is reporting:
ALBANY - Gov. Eliot Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, an administration official said this morning.
Mr. Spitzer, who was huddled with his top aides inside his Fifth Avenue apartment early this afternoon, had hours earlier abruptly canceled his scheduled public events [...]

The Silence of Technology

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Have you hand written a letter lately? How about using a phone which has a cord attached that limits you to walking 20 or so feet while chatting?
The world moves at a fast pace these days and technology (for better or worse) sets the pace to a great degree.

How to Fix the Damage to FL and MI Democratic Delegates?

Monday, March 10th, 2008

The latest suggested solution to being able to hold a do-over primary or caucus or whatever in Florida and Michigan so those delegates can be seated at the convention is to do mail-in ballots.
Florida Senator Bill Nelson is all for it and wants the state Democratic committee to raise the necessary $6 million for the [...]

Don’t Forget to Reset Your Clocks Tonight

Yes, we are now in Daylight Savings Time for those areas of the country that observe it.
Spring forward tonight or Sunday if you prefer, but set your clocks accordingly.

Don’t Complain to the Hairstylist if You Don’t Like Your Haircut, OK?

A Welcome Development In Iraq

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

If this report is accurate then one has to wonder for how long Al-Sadr has understood that neither his power grab or his militia would never have been successful in Iraq:
The leader of the Shi’ite Sadrists in Iraq, Muqtada Al-Sadr, has announced in a letter to his followers that he is stepping down from his [...]

“I don’t seek the office out of a sense of entitlement”

It’s Not A Question Of Patriotism But One of Leadership

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Remember as you watch:
Harry Reid:
…this war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything…
Speaker Pelosi:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will visit Syria, a country President Bush has shunned as a sponsor of terrorism, despite being asked by the administration not to go.
Congressman Murtha:

Senator John Kerry:

‘Losing It?’

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Senator McCain may have had moments in his career where his temper flared but this certainly was not one of them. I’d have to say he had an abundance of patience (more than I could have shown) with this female reporter.
Her snippy answer of “never mind” when McCain asked her to repeat herself upon [...]

Just a little something…(author unknown)
I’ve sure gotten old!
I’ve had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement,
new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes
can’t hear anything quieter than a jet engine,
take 40 different medications that
make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts.
Have bouts with dementia.
Have poor circulation;

Here’s one way to combat those Rush Limbaugh cross over voters:
Anyway, I’d like to offset Hillary’s Rush Limbaugh forces here in Pennsylvania, and that brings me back to Tom Maguire’s question of whether this election can get any wackier.
For me, it is just about to get wackier in one respect. Maybe surreal is a [...]

Campaigning in Florida…John McCain

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Watch as invited third grade students get into the spirit and high school seniors give their opinions on the presidential contest.

Can We Question This Guy’s Patriotism?

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Since we are accused of questioning everyone’s patriotism I wonder if it’s acceptable to question the patriotism of the person who did this little act of violence?
