If I've been doing that before, then it was meant to be. I warned J. in the past I slept through spelling. Of course, I slept through Geometry. too. My teacher promised me a "C" if I didn't take trig.

I've been changing your spelling of "assassination" in your past comments, David. You said assignations once before.;))

David:

As to comment 2, it sure brought quite a chuckle from both me and the better half..and through the years, more than 4 would sure be a safe bet. :)

It has become very "depressing" as of late to make the rounds of many of the blogs I once read with interest.

There has been so much supposition on the part of so many throughout this entire primary season that one would need a daily scorecard to keep up with the doom and gloom. Just the other day I read that the GOP is officially dead..gee I wish someone would have told us all ahead of time.

Both parties have much to atone for. And that is not just at the elected level, but stretches down to those who promote much of the anger that some choose to use as a weapon against those in opposition.

I agree David, that in the end we will forge on as a nation but I do think it is fair to question the direction that each individual candidate might take us. I disagree (and have discontinued reading many for the time being) with those who are constantly on the attack and insisting that only their candidate of choice will save this country from certain failure.

Anyhow, you were right to ask that question in the comment on the previous post and I hope you did not mind that I took the liberty to build a piece around it. We do all need from time to time to have our memories jarred just a bit, present company included.

Oh dear--was that a little Freudian slip on the spelling of "assasinations"? If not, I think the number is a lot greater than four. Sorry, folks.

One of the things that prompted me to wonder about our sense of remembrance is the despair and the elation I hear about what might happen in November. I read blogs that predicted total doom for our nation if (insert name) wins. We've defeated the British against what should have been insurmoutable odds--twice; we survived a Civil War; two world wars; Korea; Vietnam; two great depressions; 4 assignations of presidents; segregation; the civil rights movement--need I go on? You know what--despite how any of us may feel--this election is just not a big deal. It's just another presidential election and win or lose; we're all going to be just fine.
