Congratulations are in order to the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The NHL has provided many exciting moments for its fans this past season and both of these teams have been a joy to watch (even if one of them defeated the Flyers to take the Conference title.)
To the many fans of these two teams, congratulations. If the performance of Detroit and Pittsburgh to this point is any indication, they will provide hockey fans everywhere an exciting Stanley Cup final.
Justice served.
Law enforcement personnel have what I consider to be one of the most difficult jobs in our country but I never find it acceptable for them to use their badge as cover for abuse..even on the worst criminals. Self defense is one thing but blatant abusive behavior is quite another.
Now, for those charged with the crimes cited in this article, if found guilty, let’s hope justice is just as swift and harsh for them.
PHILADELPHIA — Four police officers who were caught on video beating three suspects in a drug-related triple shooting will be fired, Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey said Monday.
Three other officers have been suspended, Commissioner Ramsey said at a news conference, and one officer has been demoted.
The disciplinary action follows a two-week investigation of the May 5 beating, filmed by a television news helicopter, in which the three men were dragged from their car and then kicked and punched by as many as 15 officers in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia.
The men are in custody on attempted murder, assault and firearms charges.
One of my personal favorites, Thomas Sowell, offers his “Random Thoughts” at Real Clear Politics.
Even if you think our presidential choices this election year are between disgust and disaster, anyone who has ever been through a real disaster can tell you that this difference is not small. It is big enough to go vote on election day.
Indeed.
