It just doesn’t sound like the Fourth of July without the fireworks.
When I was a child we used to watch them from the community across the river from us.
When our children were young we took them to Charlotte NC to a park to watch a fireworks display put on by a local radio station. It became too rowdy there and they moved it to a stadium downtown, where we took my niece ten years ago when she spent the summer with us.
A few years ago a murder occurred in the vicinity during that time, and fights broke out so now the fireworks sponsored by the same radio station are displayed after a Triple A baseball game just up the Interstate from us.
Tonight we will have our two local grandchildren and we will take them to close by the local amusement park to see the display there and on the way home, if the game is over, we’ll get to see the fireworks there too.
Fireworks on the Fourth…a family tradition and I still love it.
