Here is video from a video camera taken yesterday after Pelosi closed down the House, including the lights, microphones and C-Span.
The Republicans responded by video taping the action on the floor. Listen to the response from the gallery.
If you think Pelosi is playing fair and allowing debate on serious issues, then you should vote for your Democratic congressman this year.
If you think she is acting like a two-bit Russian dictator in order to not listen to the will of the people of the United States of America then vote Republican for your Congressman and stop the Gestapo tactics of Ms. Pelosi.

Remember when we were kids and there were those times when someone got angry and “took their ball and went home?”
That is exactly what this reminds me of. I can imagine the Speaker putting her fingers in her ears and saying Na..Na..Na..I can’t hear you and then closing up shop.
Neither side is guiltless in shutting down debate from time to time, but on an issue as vital as this, well let’s just say I think the Speaker was very childish for not allowing debate and a vote. She must have sensed she might lose..that is the only reason I can see for the abrupt end to the session.
That is of course unless you want to consider they needed to head home for their “much needed” 5 week vacation.
She knows if she allows a debate and a vote we will be drilling off-shore and for shale. Possibly even ANWR. That is if the old fogies in the Senate go along.
This is exactly why they are no longer in the majority.
I think the Republicans trampled over the Demoratic minority for 6 years routinely, but I tend to agree with what I think Sue is saying–”that doesn’t make it right.” I wish–just for a change–the Golden Rule was really applied in our society. Can you imagine just for one day, everyone-including Congress-following the Golden Rule? What a wonderful and glorious day that one be. Now that’s a doable idea that the nation should move on–”Golden Rule Day.”
That is exactly the point David. This is so tiresome to the average Joe.
I’D like to believe that if the Republicans were the ones closing down debate and not allowing votes in Congress I would be writing about that also. I was not writing at this blog or anywhere else when the Reps. were in the majority but I felt their behavior was disgraceful on more than one occasion.
The “Golden Rule Day.” What a fantastic idea David, and one which would serve us all well, not just those in Washington.
Guss: You made the point in your comment very well..the Republicans are no longer in power in Congress due to their behavior when they were the majority.
I really do not think it has all that much to do with party affiliation anymore. I believe it speaks more to the impatience of our citizens who want to see far more compromise and action and less theatrics.
