Back when I was still cutting my own grass (long story why not now and personal), I would take my riding mower across the street when that neighbor’s grass began to look too shaggy, and they have a double lot!

No one wants to live next to a place that looks like a pig stye. I hope the city gets around to mowing this lawn for the neighbors’ sake.

I solved that problem myself; I have no lawn and I get a tax break from the City for low water use. I do have flowers, roses, lilacs and the like–plus a garden, but not a blade of grass. It is lovely, thanks to good planning by my wife, but if you live in a dry state, grass must be watered. We have native shrubs like Queen Anne’s lace, yarrow and purple sage that require little or no watering. We also harvest gray water for some of our garden.

I’ll bet you have a beautiful yard too, David.

We have grass and are allowed to water only one day a week. Our designated day is Sunday since we have an even numbered house.

We do have an irrigation system so we don’t have to pay sewer charges for watering the lawn and garden. The city doesn’t give tax breaks for using less water though.
