Hmm..I wonder why this Olympic event would generate a large amount of site hits within a twenty four hour period..oh never mind!
If the United Nations left New York and their headquartered elsewhere in the world tomorrow, would the New York city economy be negatively affected?
Pros and cons here.
Here in a Pennsylvania suburb, a former State Legislature member has made a conscious decision to open his home to convicted sex offenders. (AP article, thus no blockquote)
Personally, I would prefer to not have men or women convicted of sex offenses (especially those against children) in my neighborhood or that of my grandchildren.
The daunting question is, what do we do as a society with these offenders?
Other criminals serve their time and are sometimes rehabilitated and fit very well into society. Is it the nature of the crime, fear or something more which leads many to believe these individuals cannot alter their behavior?
Should we allow for a homeless environment for those who have shown in the past they are unable to control their perverted desires?
If this Pastor is found guilty of that with which he is accused, is it not another example of those we should trust the most violating that confidence?
Your thoughts?
Have a great weekend all!

This man who uses the title pastor does not need to be around children, period. He’s no more a pastor than I am and is nothing but a sexual predator. Who knows how far he will go if not stopped?
A couple of weeks ago I received an email that if you put in your address and zip code it would show sexual offenders near you.
I was amazed to see one a couple of streets over from me and have instructed our 11 year old granddaughter not to go beyond our next door neighbors’ houses when walking the dog unless my husband or I are with her. I have also told her if anyone stops to talk to her to keep on walking. I’m sure that Shepherd will protect her, but she has been told to go to the nearest home where she knows the people and tell them what’s going on and to call us.
She has received all this information from her parents, but it doesn’t hurt to tell her again to re-inforce it.
I wish I hadn’t thrown away the email now and could forward it to you.

About six months ago or so I had the same email and did check out our area also.
I also was surprised to find that within 3 miles of us lives a two time convicted sex offender. Yours lives much closer but it is still a frightening thing to think how many young people could come in contact with this individual.
Again though, I ask, what do we do with these men and yes women who have served what time has been given them by the justice system and are then released back into society?

An excellent question Sue, and one most “normal” people have trouble answering; even Christians who are to love even their enemies by command of Jesus. Of course “they” need a job and a home….just don’t let it be in my town and neighborhood.
It is a lot like where to put the nuclear waste dump, or even our own household waste, anywhere as long as I cannot be inconvenienced by it. I will admit that sexual predators fall much lower on our list of acceptable situations than such waste faculties, but the example is similar; let someone else deal with the problem.
Life is not as clean and neat as we want it to be all the time and Jesus knew that, but He excludes no one from His love; He loved us even while we were yet sinners. Some how we have to love as we have been loved; again not a priority for most of us. Jesus told the woman taken in adultery to “go and sin no more”. It is up to those punished and hopefully reformed predators to “sin no more”; but they may need some help once out of prison; the key is “have served their time”. (Many sex offenders never survive prison; even inside prisons they’re the ones at the bottom of that culture too, and child molesters are the lowest.)
Granted this is not a ministry for children to be involved in, but we adults can be instruments of such ministry.
BTW, the link that follows is one that may be what you once had in that email; truly I understand the want to protect the children in our families. But demonizing and dehumanizing is not an answer to the question Sue asks; Jesus died for sin we have done, the righteous for the unrighteous….no matter the “kind” of sin done.

J, I realize this comment may offend some on your site, so I fully understand if you delete it, but the question Sue asked shall still remain. Trutheeker
