So, About Next Week’s Democratic Convention

Next week the Democrats are set to meet in Denver for their presidential nominating convention. The expected winner is Barack Obama.

It looks as though the Clintons are going todominate the convention, though.

Hillary Clinton will make a prime time speech, as will her husband Bill the next night. Chelsea Clinton is expected to introduce her mother and Hillary has hired the Thomasons tocreate a video as her introduction to the delegates. If the name sounds familiar, these are the people who produced “The Man from Hope” for Bill Clinton when he was nominated the first time.

Hillary’s name will be put into nomination and a roll call will be taken. Do you suppose some of the people who now have buyer’s remorse about Obama will switch and vote for Hillary? Is that what she’s hoping and has been planning for all along?

Obama will speak the next night in a stadium of some 75,000 or so people to accept the nomination. But what if the much-discussed superdelegates renege on their support for Obama? Does Hillary have an acceptance speech already loaded into the teleprompter for her hoped-for nomination?

I’ve never seen a convention where the runner-up has gained so much attention from the platform and the floor as this one promises to be.

I guess I’ll have to tune in the first couple of nights to see this demonstration and just record my favorite animal programs to watch later.

You’d never know this is supposed to be Barack Obama’s moment, would you? I think he just got fleeced.

I’d like to say I feel sorry for the Senator but he invited this by all his gestures of good will towards the Clintons.

I do not say they should be enemies but does he really believe they are working in his best interest? If he does, I have a bridge I can sell him.

He does “need” her supporters though, so many concessions might have been made for those purposes which only should go to reinforce how weak the party must feel he could be come November.

I read somewhere today that Hillary does plan to vote for him at the convention, I guess that means he will get an endorsement of some sort from the former President also. That could be very interesting as I am not one bit convinced that Bill Clinton has any real respect for Senator Obama.

All I can say is..let the games begin!Smile

Pull the claws back in Girls. Why is it that women hate to see another woman lead? Must be sort of like my old dog that just had a chance of being no. 1. When the older died of cancer he was so accustomed to being no.2 that I had to feed the new dog first or he wouldn’t eat. I just can’t figure it out. God bless any woman who believes that she is as good or even better than some of these stupid childish men that have been leading this country for years Smile

It’s not a matter of gender for me Guss. The world has seen some absolutely tremendous female leaders in all walks of life.

Obama should be striving to be the leader of his party but instead he is living still in the shadow of the Clinton’s who have great difficulty stepping off the stage. Just think about Mrs. Clinton’s “concession” speeches..they were not about the party or the supposed candidate. Instead, they were all about her and her accomplishments.

Do like your analogy using the dogs. Animal behavior is fascinating and far more interesting than anything in this election cycle right now. (Besides which, in most cases they are loyal and trustworthy..now there’s a concept!)Smile

This exemplifies how I feel about the whole situation and why I have lost so much interest:

I wasn’t aware my claws were out when I wrote the post late last night. I was just telling what’s going to happen at what is supposed to be Barack’s convention. Hillary Clinton on Tuesday followed by Bill Clinton on Wednesday, nomination night. If they are trying to show party unity it seems a funny way to do it by putting the Clintons front and center two nights in a row.

I’d like to see a woman succeed in anything, but the right woman hasn’t come along as far as I can see.

    Bob Barr for president.Grin/

I have so totally tuned out the DNC. That is all we here about here in Colorado. Does anyone hear anything about the RNC? Are they even having one?

A recent Colorado poll had McCain in the lead by 3 points here. With all the media coverage of the superstar, I suspect that the real McCain lead here is more like 10 points. And most of the pollsters have given Colorado to Obama. So I guess I’m hoping Hillary behaves herself and lets the empty suit take the nomination. I think the country is getting smarter about him.
