I couldn’t have done any better if I were trying to say what he seems to be saying, but then I’m not known as a great orator.
Here’s a video of Sen. Obama addressing a crowd without a teleprompter.
Was he trying to be so wonkish that it backfired?

Honestly, no. I think he was being interrupted by something or someone in the background. I don’t think it was “wonkish”; he had to keep turning his attention to his left. That would have happened with or without a teleprompter.

Probably right, David, but my son was telling me the other day he saw a situation where Sen. Obama had to use word association to remember the word he had prepared to say, and he didn’t have a teleprompter. He touched his head and then made a gun sign with his hand and was reminded the word he wanted was “hair-trigger” when he was denying the first comment that came out of his campaign about Palin.
Hey, sometimes I forget my next thought before I have my last one out of my mind, but in this case it appears he was trying to figure out exactly what he was supposed to say that would make it understandable. And being wonkish is not bad. I didn’t mean it as an insult, and if I can find video of the other side just as funny to me I’ll post it.
This was actually posted in fun. If you think it’s in bad taste I’ll remove it if you let me know.

Oh my no, I didn’t find it offensive. It intrigued me so I watched it twice. I wonder how he will do without a teleprompter, too. Boy, I lose words all the time. It’s ok at home. My wife and I have married so long we finish each other’s sentence–as in, a few minutes ago: David: “Did you….? Candace: “yes, they’re in the cupboard.” Not so good at work, though.
