Personal Thoughts (or maybe more like ramblings)

I’ll leave it to ~J~ to decide if she wishes to remove the post immediately below this one. Had I realized the same video had been posted once before I most certainly would not have duplicated it and never thought it would create a situation where a person commenting thought they were being attacked for their opinions and thoughts.

Each of us thinks differently about this election. No one here to my knowledge has ever denigrated anyone for their political leanings. While I may support Senator McCain and others may choose to vote for Senator Obama it has never made a difference. I know of very few situations where comments have been deleted or those who express their opinions banned. These are simply put, difference of opinion.

Yes, there are major issues which should be addressed in this campaign. Sometimes due to time constraints (and I speak for myself here) the only way to take on an issue is by the use of video with short commentary. We are not a blog of many and do not do this for a living. As a matter of fact, the host here takes on the cost of this blog alone..no monetary help from me or anyone else.

Now if you want to know how I really feel about this election, here it is. It puzzles me that in this vast country we are left with a Junior Senator with very limited time served and a very flimsy (at the best) legislative record and a man who served his country honorably but has had long standing ties to the Washington establishment. When someone can answer me how we came to this point then perhaps I’ll view this process differently. Frankly, I believe this is what is creating so much frustration among the electorate.

Those supporting Senator Obama cannot see his flaws and they are entitled just as those supporting Senator McCain are. As for Senator Biden and Governor Palin, well aren’t they supposed to be the “window dressing” on the ticket?

It would be easy to point out misstep after misstep of either campaign. The simplicity of directing readers to the backtracking and flip flops (and it is on both sides) is at the fingertips. I could point to this to show Senator Obamas varying opinions on issues. You could go here and follow the links to garner a great deal of information on the current financial crisis. Maybe a read on how Social Security is once again being used as a scare tactic to garner senior votes is to your liking or maybe none of it is.

No, I don’t trust the major media in this country any longer to give the listener/reader the real deal.
That includes Rush Limbaugh, Fox and those considered conservative also. I prefer to hear the candidates or those in office tell me in their own words exactly what their solutions or policies might entail. For those who say what bias..there is plenty of information here, here and here. Again, a simple difference of opinion but when I think of Trent Lott vs. William Jefferson or Tom DeLay vs. Charlie Rangle or for that matter President Bush v. President Clinton I guess it gives me pause.

Or how about Katrina? While there were failures on the federal level were they not far worse on the local and state level? One might have thought at the time that President Bush ordered that hurricane just to wipe out an entire community.

Sorry for the length of this piece and I hope no one is offended by its tone. It is only meant to explain how I personally come to conclusions when it comes to those aspiring to the Presidency. For me, dwelling on issues and possible policies serves no real purpose. Important yes, but once in Washington as has been proven throughout every presidents term(s) these things change. For me it is the character, humility and conviction of the man or woman which comes first. Again, that is just me. I cannot change who I am anymore than the next person and would never ask one to do so.

I am writing this in support of you, Sue, and want everyone reading to realize I have a wonderful partner in you. God gave me a gift when He had us “bump” into each other.

You have a great post, we agree on everything you have said, and there will be no removing of any posts on this blog.

The one you showed was a lengthier version of the one I showed.

We should all be able to discuss and that’s the key word. Discuss and not fight.

Neither candidate is all perfect and neither is all wrong.

This blog has taken the stand to back McCain and we have done so for several months now. If we convince you to vote for him, fine. If we don’t then you can try to convince us to vote for Obama, but I plead with all our readers to do so in a civil way, not thinking anyone has been attacked.

If a discussion gets to the point you feel personally attacked when someone is trying to rebut your argument then your skin is too thin to be posting on any blog.

You will have to decide whether you want the give and take. We have not removed comments except one that was attacking Palin’s children and family. Two others have been edited for the same reason, but the points about the candidate stood even though they opposed our view.

Sue, you made no mistake in posting that video, and I support you 100%. It would be more but 100% is as high as anyone can go. Smile

I don’t know what the eventual outcome of this election will be but I sure will be glad when it’s over!

Thanks for the support but it was not my intention (although it is appreciated) for you to have to do so.
