Great comment, Sue, and I'm with you 100%. If what I say about a candidate is coming between me and my family then I guess my family doesn't think blood is thicker than politics.

I don't agree with them and they want me to, but I just don't agree.

A dear friend posted he won't be back. I'm sorry to see that happen, but we have posted nothing but facts on this page and if the facts hurt, then I'm sorry. Give me an argument that is reasonable and can refute what I believe to be facts or even my opinion, but don't tie it to blood or friendship because in the end I have to answer to God and myself.

~J~
I just lost a long comment into that obscure Word Press Spam filter, don't know what is going on with it!

I had read that piece the Anchoress posted and once again she wraps so much into one piece and pulls it all together to explain things clearly.

As to the family and friends, well I have expressed my feeling to you on more than one occasion. I would never do or say anything which I thought would harm anyone's relationship with another. If my thoughts on the election or a certain candidate are doing so then I mean it when I say it is not worth it. I cannot comprehend why it would be this way as my own family and friends have numerous discussion of many topics and we certainly do not always agree but we are respectful of each others opinions.

That said, if pointing out the lack of senator Obama's record, his associations with less than desirable (to me) individuals and his lack of a real vision for this country are not enough to encourage discussion then I don't know what would be.

Additionally, Senator McCain has run a terrible campaign. He seems to "get it" once in a while then slips back into his "my friends" mode which leaves his message hanging somewhere in thin air. It's never been a secret that I was not enthused with his candidacy but I continue to believe he is the better of the two choices just based on the Constitutional charge given the President of the United States. I do believe he will be better at protecting this country from all enemies foreign and domestic just as I have watched President Bush age dramatically doing so.

Let me just say this. If I should decide to post again on politics in any manner I will no longer apologize (as long as my facts can be verified) to anyone for offending them with a post. If they wish to dispute the facts or offer an opposing view that is fine but these games have gotten out of hand.

Attempting to play your friend, my friend is kindergarten play and not something which I have much time nor the energy for.

Sue, the way I see it is the regular commenters are upset that we don't support their candidate, so they accuse us of being divisive.

I'm at the point where if someone wants to complain about how we post on this site, when they have been invited to be contributors and have done so and stopped or refused altogether, to just tell them if they hate this site so much they don't have to come here and read what we post.

We always attach our sources to our posts and allow for differing opinions. In some cases the opinions are nothing more than grandstanding and calling us unfair. In others we have reasonable debate, but you're right. We're not going to change their minds and they're not going to change ours. That is not the purpose of this blog.

We started out trying to give voice to Democrats and Republicans alike, but the Democrats gave up. We wanted a dialog that would encourage us to come together and instead all we got was "Speaks for itself" and criticism.

My skin is thick and so is yours. I'm not going to quit writing what I want because of a couple of people who want to act spoiled.

Here's an interesting quote from the Anchoress:

Meanwhile, the press is getting upset about free speech, and suggesting that McCain/Palin are “inciting hate.” It wasn’t “inciting hate” when books and plays and films were made about how President Bush was a nazi, a baby-Hitler who should be assassinated. THAT was free speech. But now…hey, laughing at Obama and sneering at the lying, feckless press - that’s inciting hate, and that should be CENSORED. Get the waaahmublance for the press. They descended upon Palin like Jackals and didn’t think the public would notice.

Once again, we see that all the evils the left has projected upon Bush for these 8 years, are the ones that they harbor within themselves. Classic, classic projection. Bush has never censored anyone, or suggested as much, and he’s had nothing but hate and vile accusations made against him. These folks have made it clear, that censorship is something they really like.

Remember when Keith Olbermann called Bush a terrorist, a liar and a fascist? Yeah. Projection. Let’s talk about Obama some more.

For the entire piece go here.

It's not your family causing the grief here, Sue. It's mine and I am embarrassed they would act this way in public.
