Senator Barack Obama will soon be able to also claim the title of President-elect Obama.
As I write this Obama already has 200 electoral votes according to projections and we still have the west to show up on the map.
Florida, Indiana and Virginia are still too close to call, but Ohio and New Mexico flipped to the democrats, giving McCain virtually no way to win the race even if he wins all the battleground states remaining. Ohio was the nail in the coffin.
We will now have an undivided government and can give credit or blame to one party for at least the next two years. In two years congress will be up for election again and if they haven’t performed better than they did the last two years I would expect to see some of the democrats tossed out on their ears then.
In four years if President-elect Obama, who will be President Obama, doesn’t do what he said or does what he said and people are dissatisfied he may be vulnerable then.
Romans 13 tells us that no person is put into office without God allowing it.
Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Romans 13:1
The Bible also tells us we are to pray for our leaders. I will pray that the new president will have a good presidency and will govern from the center rather than the far left. I don’t have much hope for that but could be pleasantly surprised.
John McCain ran a lousy campaign and the crash of the markets in September and October hurt his candidacy greatly. He has served his country in an honorable way his entire adult life and has no reason to hang his head. He will still be a force to reckon with in the Senate.
Either way this election was going to make history. We were going to have the first female vice-president or the first African-American president. It looks like we have our first African-American president as of January 20, 2009.
I will be happy to see President Bush finally relieved of the terrible burden he has carried for the last eight years. If not for him we would still be worrying about terrorists bombing our cities and streets. He has kept us safe and has constantly been criticized by bitter democrats from day one and before. Yet he has done what he has felt is right for the country regardless of the political consequences and I believe history will show he was right and will be much kinder to him than the ultra-left wing of the democratic party.
President Bush deserves a long and peaceful retirement, and I hope if the new congress and president try to set a policy we will go along with the world court it will be defeated, as they are just itching to get their hands on Bush for what they call “war crimes”. It would be a tragedy to see him have to go before that kangaroo court and face those charges. I pray he has peace and a nice, quiet life for a couple of years before he enters public debate again, if he ever does.
I’m happy Sarah Palin was introduced to our country and hope she will one day run for president. If the moonbats can keep off her back about her wardrobe and any other silly excuse to hate a woman they don’t even know I think she will have an excellent chance at winning.
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal also has a bright future in national republican politics, so he and Palin are just two faces of the future leaders of the party.
It’s always more fun to back the winner, but we have to also remember to accept the decision of the American people who exercised their right to vote and voted for Mr. Obama.
Congratulations and prayers of good will go out to President-elect Obama and his campaign.
I will always respect the office of President of the United States. Respect for the man holding that office will have to be earned and I reserve judgment on that.
Now we will be watching and reporting on our government with even a sharper focus for the next two to four years.
May God bless America.
