The Only Government That Matters is the Eternal One

Here is a song of invitation to accept Jesus as your Savior:

Yesterday an old friend, INC, came by for a visit and pointed me to two beautiful hymns. The second is here.

I was as moved as possible when I heard these two beautiful hymns sung one after the other, just as INC first heard them a few years ago. It has changed my mind about contemporary Christian music and I will now listen with an ear that doesn’t just hear the sounds of a rock band, but ears that hear of the love of God.

We have talked about politics here a lot, and will continue to do so, but to those of us who have been born again this world is not our home. We’re just passing through. Our Lord, Master, Savior and God is preparing mansions for those who believe and accept Him as their Savior. Not just houses, but mansions we cannot even imagine.

I care about my country and the fact Obama has done so much destruction in such a short time and the refusal of many to admit they were wrong when they voted for him, but I believe there are enough born-again Christians in this country still that our prayers for God to stay the hand of Obama will be answered unless God has a higher purpose that works to the beginning of our eternity.

Please listen to the beautiful hymns recommended by INC. Close your eyes and listen to the words and if you have the need to pray for any reason please do so. God hears the prayers of sinners, but the first prayer He hears from us is the one asking to be forgiven of our sins.

May you be as blessed as I have been with these hymns.

Thank you, INC.

Freedom,You Bad, Bad, Word (Updated)

*Update:

I have updated this post at the top as Debra Burlingame in an interview with Neil Cavuto, speaks for what I would hope are many, many Americans.

Have a listen:

*End Update*

How many people knew this was going to happen?

Sad to say, but freedom is on the way out. As in the absurd decision to rename the Freedom Tower.

What a disgrace.

Debra Burlingame, whose brother Charles Burlingame was the pilot aboard American Airlines Flight 77 that was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon, said the renaming of the tower is one more example that the nation is forgetting 9/11.

“If we can’t say the word freedom out loud, God help us,” she said.

Just one more of those changes to America which has slipped under the radar. How many more will we absorb before we don’t recognize this country?

Hats Off To Lloyd Marcus

Before you view the video below, please allow me to ask a simple question.

If these tea parties were taking place across America in protest of policies set forth by a Republican President exactly what do you think the news coverage would be like?

Here’s what I think: wall to wall television coverage, including interviews with anyone they could find who would talk down the administration. Front page newspaper coverage, complete with as many pictures as space would allow.

Talking heads informing Americans how dire the situation is in our country and how we must move to reform Washington before its too late..after all there is that image thing, you know.

What we hear now are crickets chirping..a smattering here or there which generally includes not much more than numbers in attendance pulled out of thin air. Local news stations might make mention of those who are peacefully executing their right to dissent, but only if they need a filler.

Thank goodness for the internet. It provides those of us who are not into thisworship phenomenon an outlet to not only read but express our views.

What these folks are organizing is what has made this country great.

Debate and dissent (peaceful) only creates more viable solutions for all of our citizens. I’d think these tea party folks deserve at least as much attention as Code Pink or say, Cindy Sheehan, don’t you?

It is guaranteed if Lloyd Marcus had performed the following, and the administration in Washington was controlled by one with an (R) after his/her name, it would have been the closing for every evening newscast for as long as they could milk it:

The lopsidedness of our media is turning many away from politics altogether. How is it that so much that was so bad for eight years is now the best thing since rye bread?

Can they justify never vetting the man who now sits in the Oval Office?

Sure they can, after all, they are the media and they believe they do no more than regurgitate the true feelings of our citizens.

Funny, I know a lot of people who were never asked.

A Ten Minute Civics Lesson

So many of us throw around the word “democracy” as though that is the form of government we actually have. In reality we are a Constitutional Republic. A nation ruled by laws and no one is above the law.

Think about this the next time Congress tries to ram something through in a hurry. They are our employees and we are their employers.

You Can’t Go to the Prom Because…

Imagine how you would feel under the same circumstances.

The parents of a British teen, who died suddenly two months ago, received a disturbing letter from the girl’s high school saying she needs to improve her attendance or can’t go to the prom, the Manchester Evening News reported.

The letter said Megan Gillan’s attendance was 60.4 percent and the school requires its students to keep a 92 percent attendance record.

“I screamed when I first saw it,” her mother Margaret Gillan told the newspaper. If they want her to attend that much I’ll take Megan’s remains. It’s disgusting.”

Gillan was found dead Jan. 19 in her bedroom at her parent’s home. The letter was dated March 16.

Her mother was horrified and outraged and the school blamed a computer error. Her name should have been removed from the computer when she died. I wonder if any of her school mates or teachers attended her funeral. Certainly the school knew of her untimely death.

Writer’s Block

There comes a time when even the great writers of all time have had writer’s block.

I have it now. I don’t mean to leave everything to Sue to do all the lifting on this site, but I can’t seem to put two thoughts together that make any sense to me, much less anyone else reading it.

I have tired of the political B.S. floating around and feel I am on overload of seeing Obama’s face everywhere I look.

I have been visiting a Christian blog that seems to have some very strange ideas about God’s Omniscience and foreknowledge that don’t click with what I have read, been taught or believe, and it is grieving my very soul.

They seem to think God’s logic is like our logic, and since God made us He knows us better than we know ourselves. But they are trying to put human attributes on God such as time and space. He is outside those boundaries and you just don’t know how this has been affecting me.

I have spoken to my pastor and others at my church and we all have the same beliefs I do and question this young man’s beliefs. It seems even his own mother questions what he is writing on her blog.

I read that China and Russia want a one world currency not tied to any government, and I realize this is another sign of end-times prophecy. One day there will be a single currency and people who do not worship the beast, Satan, will not be able to buy or sell without the mark of the beast on their forehead or their right hand or wrist.

Think about microchips and this isn’t far-fetched anymore. We have a man in the White House who is laughing at the economy. Is it because it’s better to laugh than to cry or is it because he is laughing at the fact he is so easily destroying our capitalist system?

We have a congress that has authorized trillions of dollars to be spent on pet projects and they just keep spending on the same projects.

Now they want universal health care. It sounds good when you first hear it but what if you are over 40 years old? How will it effect you?

You have a heart attack at the age of 60 and need bypass surgery. We have universal health care. The powers that be in Washington evaluate you and decide because you are 60 years old you don’t realistically have that many years left and resources are scarce. They decide to take Juan, a twenty-five year old illegal immigrant who has had a heart attack and fix him with the bypass while they deny the bypass to you. After all, Juan has a full life ahead of him.

People say this will never happen, but it will happen. Laugh at me the way you probably laughed when I said Obama was a socialist before the election. He has shown his true colors and is a socialist and possibly a marxist.

I sometimes feel that we are voices crying out in the wilderness, but I will continue to pray for this country that has been so easily deceived by the phrase “hope and change”.

I have no hope and I see change that is not good.

Too much is running through my head to even begin to tell you why I feel this way. Let me shake out the cobwebs and I’ll say something fairly intellibible if not intelligent.

It certainly would be nice to see some of our readers comment now and then and not just Sue and me commenting on each other’s posts.

This is a free forum for you to say whatever you wish to say as long as it is polite and there is no profanity. We won’t hunt you down to see where you live. I promise we don’t care about your personal information.

Enough rambling for now. Have a great Tuesday.

Coffee A peaceful community or cause for concern?

Islamberg was founded in 1980 by Sheikh Syed Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani, a Pakistani cleric who purchased a 70-acre plot and invited followers, mostly Muslim converts living in New York City, to settle there.

The town has its own mosque, grocery store and schoolhouse. It also reportedly has a firing range where residents take regular target practice. Gilani established similar rural enclaves across the country — at least six, including the Red House community in southern Virginia — though some believe there are dozens of them, all operating under the umbrella of the “Muslims of the Americas” group founded by Gilani.

Federal authorities say Gilani was also one of the founders of Jamaat al-Fuqra, a terrorist organization believed responsible for dozens of bombings and murders across the U.S. and abroad. The group was linked to the planning of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, and 10 years earlier a member was arrested and later convicted for bombing a hotel in Portland, Ore.

[emphasis-mine]

Coffee But, can she cook?

Coffee A house fire, satire, and a familiar (fictitious) fire chief all in one post.

The other day I was fixing breakfast as a treat for my wife — it was her birthday — when somehow the kitchen towel I was using to wipe some spillage caught fire. Holding on to the edge of the burning towel, I ran over to the sink to douse the flames, but before I got there the towel fell from my hands and landed on a newspaper I had inadvertently left on the floor, setting it ablaze. From there, the flames spread to a pile of newspapers on the kitchen table, and before I knew it, the entire kitchen was on fire.

Sensing something amiss, my wife raced into the kitchen, shoved me aside, and called the fire department. In practically no time at all, Fire Marshal Obamavich was at our doorstep.

Is There An Adult In The House?

Have you noticed the mood in the country recently?

Are we seeing more and more Americans who are not willing to simply hand over our country to those in Washington who have some plan to remake our great nation?

Has the press finally caught on that they facilitated the election of someone totally unqualified to be POTUS?

“You’re sitting here. And you’re— you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, “I mean, he’s sitting there just making jokes about money—” How do you deal with— I mean: explain. . .” Kroft asks at one point.

“Are you punch drunk?” Kroft says.

Barack Obama was going to repair America’s image around the world, remember? Yet he has managed in record time to insult and be dissed by several world leaders.

As for the bedrock of our economy, you know that little thing called capitalism, this administration, with the help of a Democratic Congress
is slowly working toward its demise.

More and more you read those who are depressed and feel helpless to remove this brand of hope and change which has been imposed upon our country.

Merle Haggard performed this piece of music back in 1983. In it he makes a number of statements which could easily be rendered appropriate today:

YouTube Preview Image

Let’s hope we can stop this snowball from running down the hill.
Make phone calls, send emails, attend tea parties if you can.

Inform the White House that you want a President who is accounted for in Washington once in a while.

California is nice, friendly territory, Camp David is meant as a retreat from months of sweat and toil, not an every weekend mini-vacation, and the Jay Leno show..well, very that’s just unbecoming the Office of the Presidency. Constant stories of social gatherings are tiresome when you have so many struggling to simply put food on their table.

And, for gosh sakes, why do we have to see any POTUS almost every day delivering not much more than another campaign speech. How about some quiet, honest to gosh governance?

2010 is not that far away. If you have the time give a hand to a Republican candidate who will be either challenged or the opponent in a House or Senate race. Don’t give up because of some skewed poll or a talking head who tells you the GOP has no chance…those games are getting old.

Remember when Ronald Reagan was elected. Many said he was exactly what the country needed at the time. Patriotism flowed from every vein in his body.

Does anyone see that enthusiasm for our nation or its flag exhibited now?

No, we are constantly told of all that’s wrong with America. Well, if we were so wrong up to this point, then mark me down on the side of wrong because all this change will leave this country bare and allow powerhouses such as China to continue to make major moves toward ownership of the United States.

We need a strong hand at the helm of government at this juncture in our history, not a giggling, teleprompter dependent, vacationing, party throwing individual.

There is serious work to be done, both on the domestic and foreign fronts, and its about time this administration take its responsibilities seriously.

Grandparents Through the Eyes of Children

From my email:

Grandparents:

1. She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful
eyes of her young granddaughter, as she’d done many times before. After
she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, “But
Gramma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!” I will probably
never put lipstick on again without thinking about kissing the toilet
paper good-bye…

2. My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He
asked me how old I was, and I told him, 62. My grandson was quiet for a
moment, and then he asked, “Did you start at 1?”

3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old
slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard
the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin.
Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room,
putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she
heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, “Who was THAT?”

4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own
childhood was like: “We used to skate outside on a pond I had a swing
made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our
pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods.” The little girl was
wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, “I sure wish I’d gotten
to know you sooner!”

5. My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, “Grandma, do you know
how you and God are alike?” I mentally polished my halo and I said, “No,
how are we alike?” “You’re both old,” he replied.

6. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather’s word
processor. She told him she was writing a story. “What’s it about?” he
asked. “I don’t know,” she replied. “I can’t read.”

7. I didn’t know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I
decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it
was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I
continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, “Grandma, I think
you should try to figure out some of these, yourself!”

8. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the
lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects.
Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy
whispered, “It’s no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us
with flashlights.”

9. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, “I’m not
sure.” “Look in your underwear, Grandpa,” he advised, “mine says I’m 4 to
6.”

10. A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother,
“Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today.” The
grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool.
“That’s interesting,” she said, “how do you make babies?” “It’s simple,”
replied the girl. “You just change ‘y’ to ‘i’ and add ‘es’.”

11. Children’s Logic: “Give me a sentence about a public servant,” said a
teacher. The small boy wrote: “The fireman came down the ladder
pregnant.” The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. “Don’t you know
what pregnant means?” she asked. “Sure,” said the young boy confidently.
‘It means carrying a child.”

12. A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day
when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire
truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog’s
duties. “They use him to keep crowds back,” said one child. “No,” said
another. “He’s just for good luck.” ;A third child brought the argument
to a close.”They use the dogs,” she said firmly, “to find the fire
hydrants.”

13. A 6-year-old was asked where his grandma lived. “Oh,” he said, “she
lives at the airport, and when we want her, we just go get her. Then,
when we’re done having her visit, we take her back to the airport.”

14. Grandpa is the smartest man on earth! He teaches me good things, but
I don’t get to see him enough to get as smart as him!

15. My Grandparents are funny, when they bend over; you hear gas leaks,
and they blame their dog.

I can attest to the age thing. Our youngest grandchild is obsessed with our ages and thinks we are OLD. I can remember asking my great-aunt what it was like in the “olden days” when I was about his age. Smile

Their Sentences Served, Ramos and Compean Speak

Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean speak to the Washington Times about their convictions and their readjustment to life following the commutation of their sentences by former President Bush:

Former U.S. Border Patrol agent Ignacio “Nacho” Ramos wakes up in the middle of the night expecting a guard to shine a flashlight in his face. Jose Alonso Compean, his colleague, still has nightmares that he’s not really home.

It has not been easy readjusting to life outside their one-man prison cells where they spent the last two years of their lives in segregation.

Since the commutation of their sentences by President Bush on his last day in office, the former agents, who were charged with the non-fatal shooting of a Mexican national after he abandoned a load of marijuana near the border, are learning to live in the world again.

Since being released from prison on Feb 17, both men were confined to house arrest for 31 days and were barred from speaking to the media until their sentences ended Friday.

In an exclusive interview with The Washington Times, the two men, now fighting to have their convictions wiped off the record, spoke of their ordeal since the incident in Fabens, Texas, in 2005 that changed their lives.

8 months after Obama bought the stock, the company was awarded a $28 million contract from the federal government to research treatments against biological warfare or a bioterrorism attack.

Been Away for Awhile (But With Good Reason)

Anyone who knows my husband and me also knows we love our grandchildren but get to see only half of them most of the time. This is because our son and daughter-in-law live in Texas and we see them only when we go to visit them or they come to visit her family and take a day or so to see us.

This week was one of the times our grandchildren came to see us, and it marks the first time we have had a photo taken of all four grandchildren at one time since our youngest grandson was a baby.

Without further ado I present our grandchildren to you:

picture-022

Left to right: Patrick, Ryan, Kelsey, Ashley (Patrick and Kelsey, first and third from left, are our son’s children and Ryan and Ashley, second and fourth from the left are our daughter’s children.)

picture-023

Our dog Caylee decided to mix up things a bit.

picture-024

Still laughing about the dog.

So there you have it, the Red-Eye family! And yes, those are Caylee’s prints on the drapes. Pay no attention; they’re not there.

We thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of our grandchildren together, and Ryan was so looking forward to meeting his cousin Patrick because he didn’t remember him from before but saw Kelsey last year. Plus he’s a boy cousin and that’s better than girl cousins to any boy.

Who would have thought we would have had so much noise with four kids in the house and a hyper puppy? I looked at myself in the mirror after Ashley and Ryan left and looked as though I were bald in front because I had been pushing my hair back from all the noise. But it was good noise and fun.

Former President George W. Bush Will Not Do Unto Others As Was Done To Him

When it comes to former President Bush if he had reacted in a different fashion it simply would not have been the man we came to know:

(CALGARY, Alberta) — Former President George W. Bush said on Tuesday that he won’t criticize Barack Obama because the new U.S. president “deserves my silence,” and said he plans to write a book about the 12 toughest decisions he made in office.

Bush declined to critique the Obama administration in his first speech since leaving office in January. Former Vice President Dick Cheney has said that Obama’s decisions threatened America’s safety. (Read a brief history of the post-presidency.)

“I’m not going to spend my time criticizing him. There are plenty of critics in the arena,” Bush said. “He deserves my silence.”

Bush said he wants Obama to succeed and said it’s important that he has that support. Talk-show host Rush Limbaugh has said he hoped Obama would fail.

“I love my country a lot more than I love politics,” Bush said. “I think it is essential that he be helped in office.”

[emphasis-admin]

It’s obvious the former president does not desire for the current administration to find themselves the objects of the hatred which was hurled at him (even from former presidents.)

He’s not going to make a spectacle of himself by pointing out what he might perceive to be the errors of the ways of the current occupants of positions of power in Washington. What purpose would it serve?

Mr. Bush served with humility and dignity. He brought class back to the Office of the Presidency. The respect shown his replacement was nothing short of remarkably cordial and helpful, and in his departure he got it right. The job is only loaned to you by American’s for the blink of an eye and when your time is up, walk away, quietly and allow another to guide the country.

It’s now up to our citizens to judge the Obama administration, not a former President who knows full well the pressures and trials of the job.

You stay classy Mr. Bush. We expect no less.

Obama Targets Wounded Warriors (Updated)

It’s ourtrageous that a Commander in Chief, moreover one in the time of war, would add additional stress to those both serving in hostile surroundings and those who are recovering from wounds received while defending this country:

WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization says he is “deeply disappointed and concerned” after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

“It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan,” said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. “He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it.”

The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, “This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ‘ to care for him who shall have borne the battle’ given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm’s way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America’s veterans!”

Commander Rehbein goes on to make a very strong point when it comes to the welfare of not only the wounded warrior but also that of their immediate family:

The proposed requirement for these companies to reimburse the VA would not only be unfair, says the Legion, but would have an adverse impact on service-connected disabled veterans and their families. The Legion argues that, depending on the severity of the medical conditions involved, maximum insurance coverage limits could be reached through treatment of the veteran’s condition alone. That would leave the rest of the family without health care benefits. The Legion also points out that many health insurance companies require deductibles to be paid before any benefits are covered.

[emphasis-mine-admin]

Congress would be well advised to kill any such consideration before it sees the floor. There is a vast segment of this country who understands that while enlistment in the military is voluntary, it is a commitment to country.

Sure, you can argue that these folks get the benefit of a commissary or post exchange. So. We have Wal-Mart.

One might argue that many civilians have to “pay” for their health insurance. I ask, what are your chances of losing both legs, arms or worse at the hands of a terrorist laid IED?

Does this administration understand the stress those serving in a war zone incur? Do they understand what it is like to be the family left behind, hanging on to the hope that they will see their loved one arrive home intact both mentally and physically?

Call your Representative and your Senators. Let them know that you stand behind those who defend our freedoms.

Ask them why individuals who are willing to lay down their very lives for this country don’t deserve the best care we have available when necessary at minimal or no cost to them personally.

Should Congress find this proposal,(if it advances that far)
DOA then they should be applauded, but it should never be forgotten that the current administration has shown its hand.

By signing the latest Omnibus Spending Bill laden with countless earmarks it is quite evident that this President and his administration have made a conscious decision that government waste is acceptable so long as it keeps voting blocks content. Bring home the bacon and you shall win, win, win.

Well, these men and women do win, (and many times without the full support of elected officials or a select segment of their own fellow citizens):

YouTube Preview Image

The least we can do is support them by making certain no cuts to their health benefits see the light of day.

Update: Well, well, how quickly the administration has caved on this issue.

The White House on Wednesday backed off a controversial plan that would have dramatically altered the way the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) handles insurance claims, after veterans groups staged an all-out fight against such a proposal.

President Obama will not pursue a proposal that would have allowed the VA to charge private insurance companies for the treatment of veterans with service- and war-related injuries. The proposal raised the ire of prominent Democrats on the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs panels. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was the first to announce Wednesday afternoon that the president won’t pursue such a proposal…

Probably didn’t poll well or perhaps they were shocked by how many individuals were incensed by this ridiculous idea. end update

The reason why I was not at school a week ago last Thursday is because my daughter-in-law and son were experiencing the birth of their first daughter, (and my husband and my first granddaughter) Marlee Michelle, who weighed in at 8lbs, 1oz.

It was a joyful and most wonderful day.

Coffee Here they are. The titles of those twenty five movies Prime Minister Brown tucked in his suitcase as he headed back to Britain:

Thoughts anyone? HT: Slashfilm

Coffee At the moment many are interested primarily in self preservation. It is completely understandable given the rising unemployment numbers and the losses in the market. Who among us could say we have not been touched in some way by this recent economic downturn?

There are those who are as affected as the rest but also have another burden to carry. One which could take from them something far more valuable than any material possession.

These are the folks who, whether military or civilian, have loved ones in harms way, far from home.

Yes, times are tough at present but if you could find a moment, would you please, if you are so inclined to fit in a prayer for the brave men and women who are currently on battlefields or will soon be deployed?

This is a real “shoe on the other foot” moment for me.

My son – my only son – just got orders for Afghanistan.

He’ll be the third generation of my family committed to a foreign war. Stretching back to WWII one of us always seems to have been among those serving the nation during conflict. Except this time it’s the guy who once was small enough to sleep on my chest.

Thanks.

Coffee Absolutely beautiful!

Last month, the Denver Zoo welcomed a brand new bundle of joy. This time, it’s a Golden Lion Tamarin. The newborn weighed less than 100 grams, about as much as an average kiwi fruit.

Democrats, Spare Me the Faux Outrage (Updated)

When I heard Sean Hannity’s interview of Rush Limbaugh and he asked him if he wanted Obama to fail I heard Limbaugh answer that he wanted his socialist policies to fail.

This has been red meat for those who didn’t hear it and still want to take it out of context.

Well, now, I just ran across this article in which James Carville and pollster Stanley Greenberg had held a meeting with the press and said they actually wanted Bush to fail. Not his policies, but his presidency.

Unfortunately, it happened on 9/11/2001 and when news of the terrorist attacks was known Carville told the press to forget everything they had said because “this changes everything.”

The news media was right in not telling the story then, but why didn’t they tell it later? Say, about as fast as they misquoted Limbaugh.

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, just minutes before learning of the terrorist attacks on America, Democratic strategist James Carville was hoping for President Bush to fail, telling a group of Washington reporters: “I certainly hope he doesn’t succeed.”

Carville was joined by Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg, who seemed encouraged by a survey he had just completed that revealed public misgivings about the newly minted president.

“We rush into these focus groups with these doubts that people have about him, and I’m wanting them to turn against him,” Greenberg admitted.

The pollster added with a chuckle of disbelief: “They don’t want him to fail. I mean, they think it matters if the president of the United States fails.”

Minutes later, as news of the terrorist attacks reached the hotel conference room where the Democrats were having breakfast with the reporters, Carville announced: “Disregard everything we just said! This changes everything!”

The press followed Carville’s orders, never reporting his or Greenberg’s desire for Bush to fail. …

…That omission stands in stark contrast to the feeding frenzy that ensued when radio host Rush Limbaugh recently said he wanted President Obama to fail. The press devoted wall-to-wall coverage to the remark, suggesting that Limbaugh and, by extension, conservative Republicans, were unpatriotic.

“The most influential Republican in the United States today, Mr. Rush Limbaugh, said he did not want President Obama to succeed,” Carville railed on CNN recently. “He is the daddy of this Republican Congress.”

[Emphasis mine. Admin]

Sorry, fellas, but he only failed in the minds of those you poisoned into Bush Derangement Syndrome, who only hated him because (fill in the blanks.)

You and your party made it as miserable as you could for his presidency and continue to blame him for everything that has happened or will happen in the past, present and future.

Please, spare me the faux outrage.

Update: Carville felt he had to explain his comment Wednesday:

James Carville fired back at radio host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday, who earlier in the day had taken the Democratic strategist to task for saying of President Bush in 2001, “I certainly hope he doesn’t succeed.”

Carville told CNN that unlike Limbaugh, who recently said he wants President Obama to fail, Carville retracted his own missive — uttered to a group of reporters on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 — just minutes later, when he learned of the terrorist attacks on America.

“Thank God that I had the good sense to realize that the United States was at war and that changed everything, Carville said. “Once I found out that the country was at war, I said: Whatever I said, disregard it; it’s inoperative.”

“Unlike Mr. Limbaugh,” he added, who “kept insisting that he wanted the president to fail at a time of war.”

Carville was responding to Limbaugh’s statement earlier Wednesday in an exclusive FOX News report on Carville’s 2001 comments.

That’s strange. I don’t recall Carville being concerned about wanting Bush to fail during a war when it was convenient to do so. Of course, he had to wait until he and his cohorts ginned up the press so the people would be against defending ourselves from terrorists.

Speaker Pelosi Wants What She Wants..When She Wants It

Why is it that things such as the story noted below no longer cease to amaze?

Maybe we have all just become accustomed to certain members of Congress and especially some in leadership roles gaming the system:

Below is a video we’ve all seen: Speaker Pelosi, in February 2007, denying that she or anybody in her office demanded the DOD provide her with a larger plane than the ones already provided to meet her personal-use demands.

“I have never asked for any larger plane….We’ve never asked for a larger plane, this is a myth that they are talking about on the floor,” she said. “No we haven’t asked for any larger plane. …this is not my request, it is a request of the Sergeant-at-Arms…

“We didn’t ask for a larger plane. Period.”

Check out the video at Redstate and be sure to read the post to completion.

I read through some of the emails linked there when the story broke yesterday, and frankly was more than a bit disturbed by the fact that the Speaker has determined she deserves treatment which would not be afforded even the Secretary of Defense.

Protection for a high ranking US government official is one thing, abuse of the system and taxpayer money, quite another.

We’ve been informed that it will require sacrifice on all of our parts to move past the current recession. Should we not expect the same of those in Washington?

Sleight Of Hand

The magicians Penn and Teller have been known to, as part of their act, explain sleight of hand while demonstrating it with a performance by Teller, appearing to merely dispose of an old cigarette and light a new cigarette. Teller is, in fact, simply hiding and replacing the same cigarette without ever putting it out. While Teller performs, Penn describes what he is doing, and explains the seven principles of Sleight of Hand.[7]

1. Palm – To hold an object in an apparently empty hand.
2. Ditch – To secretly dispose of an unneeded object.
3. Steal – To secretly obtain a needed object.
4. Load – To secretly move an object to where it is needed.
5. Simulation – To give the impression that something that has not happened, has.
6. Misdirection – To lead attention away from a secret move.
7. Switch – To secretly exchange one object for another.

The technique above is used only for entertainment right?

Wrong. It appears the Obama administration has mastered the art:

So – if you take a Brigade scheduled to go to Iraq and schedule it to go to Afghanistan instead, then make headlines for drawing down Iraq and building up Afghanistan, could you pull off substituting another Brigade into the Iraq rotation for the one you diverted without anyone in the media pointing out that your drawdown is a scam, a hoax on the American public?

Follow the link Greyhawk provides in the above linked post.

You’ll find that numbers two through six in the principles of Sleight of Hand are very applicable.
