100 Days and America’s Redo Has Only Just Begun
I did not watch the 100 days in office, pat myself on the back, news conference and it is no doubt a good thing.
Shopping for a new television is not exactly in the budget, but it would have been a necessity if I had heard this:
President Barack Obama marked his 100th day in office by telling Americans that “we’ve begun the work of remaking America.”
[Emphasis-mine]
In our short history we have encountered many, many difficulties but our citizens are resilient, strong and loyal patriots.
We have faced many an adversity which would have created a third world environment for other nations, yet we have always found ourselves leaving each challenge behind and moving ahead as a stronger, more vital nation.
If this remake of America is in the vein of Alinsky, Marx, Ayers, Soros and Wright then we all might as well fold up the tent and go home.
If the remake of America includes placing terrorists (who really have and would again torture) in our midst just to show our softer side, then we will suffer the consequences [sooner or later] of those actions.
If the remake of America is an attempt to nationalize financial institutions and private industry, then this administration is off to a running start.
If the remake of America is an attempt at long term one party rule by utilizing deception, with the press as a willing accomplice, then Obama and Congress are well on their way.
If the remake of America means one never has to take personal responsibility for actions or decisions..well that one speaks for itself.
America does not need a re-do. America needs a strong, steady, honest and humble man/woman guiding her through troubled times no matter their source.

Connecting The Dots
No surprises here:
The so-called Commission on Accountability which mysteriously appeared on the political scene a few days ago to push for show trials related to War on Terror interrogation policies is a PR hoax created by liberal philanthropist George Soros and political operatives sympathetic to the Obama administration.
The push is part of a vindictive campaign to pay back the architects of the War on Terror for making a good faith effort to defend America
To some the arrival of the Commission on Accountability, with its 19 member groups including Amnesty International USA and Human Rights Watch, suggested a significant groundswell of support in the nonprofit activist community for the proposed creation of an independent, non-partisan commission to examine the treatment of captured suspected terrorists. These groups all want Bush administration officials investigated for doing their jobs.
But the Napoleonic plotter Charles Maurice de Talleyrand’s eternal aphorism that treason is a matter of dates is not lost on today’s left, which, having recaptured the White House and Congress, now wants to pay back the architects of the War on Terror for daring to defend America from Islamist totalitarians.
Alas, this spanking new David Axelrod-style astroturf group was manufactured by Soros himself and Obama loyalists.
The proof was surprisingly easy to find.
Is there anyone who believes George Soros has the best interest of America at heart?

He sounds like one Democrat who is not impressed don’t you think? How long will it be before the Speaker gets in his ear and makes his a promise or two to give up on the Senate seat and remain in the House?

He knew he could not win as a Republican by his own admission, but of course we all know it was the Pa. electorate and those other nasty colleagues on the Right who drove him away.
The Senator should be a laughing stock for his weak excuses. Instead he has positioned himself to possibly be back in the saddle for another six years. What a disgrace.

Specter Changing Political Parties
Since Arlen Specter is really a Democrat in Republican clothing, he has decided it would be too hard for him to get the Republican nomination to run again for the PA Senate seat.
So, he’s changing parties.
Veteran GOP Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania intends to switch political parties and run in the Democratic primary in 2010, FOX News has confirmed.
“I deeply regret that I will be disappointing many friends and supporters,” Specter said in prepared remarks to be delivered at a news conference on Tuesday.
“I can understand their disappointment,” he continued. “I am also disappointed that so many in the party I have worked for for more than four decades do not want me to be their candidate. It is very painful on both sides.”
I wonder if he’ll get re-elected as a Democrat? Sue?
Manhattan Gets Wake-Up Call

On Monday morning in the 9 o’clock hour a 747 jet that would be designated Air Force One if the president had been on it was flying low in the Manhattan skies. It was followed by two fighter jets.
Just as a beautiful sunny day in September 2001 the plane droned on, sounding eerily similar to the sounds of that day we should never forget, but many have. It sounded like a plane slowing down in speed. Went over the Ground Zero area where so many people lost their lives on that fateful and tragic day.
People evacuated workplaces and, just as before, we saw video of people running away from what they thought was another attack. Can you imagine the fear in these people’s hearts?
It turned out it was a photo op for Air Force One to show it flying over the Statue of Liberty.
It also turned out no one from the White House or Dept. of Defense had told any officials in New York the plane would be carrying out this exercise, and some people actually thought Air Force One had been hijacked and would be flown into buildings the way planes were flown into buildings that fateful September day.
When the mayor of New York found out what it was he was furious that no one was notified.
When asked about it in the daily press briefing Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the reporters should ask the Defense Department. When told the Defense Department had referred the press to the White House press secretary the press secretary said he’d have to check with “the White House.” What? Isn’t he part of the White House and isn’t he the spokesperson for the administration?
Finally, the director of White House Military Office, Louis Caldera apologized and said people in NJ and New York had been notified but acknowledged it caused confusion and disruption.
If, in fact, these places had been notified, the word never got out to the ones in charge of keeping the area safe and they were rightfully angered.
In the meantime, maybe they did the people of the Manhattan area a great service. The incident reminded them of the attacks on 9/11/2001, and since a lot of them in their ivory towers seem to think we don’t need to be vigilant now, maybe they got a wake-up call.
By the way, how much did it cost for this airplane photo op? What about its carbon footprint? Oh, never mind!

A Small Slice Of The Web…A Large Dose of Sunshine
We are slated for a beautiful weekend here in Pa. (and if today has been any indication, it is absolutely true) so that means lots of outside work to be done.
I never mind as I love being out of doors and getting a bit dirty but it does cut down on the time left for things like blogging.

“Thy Word Is Truth”
As addition to the series I did on Easter weekend, Why I Believe, I want to discuss my beliefs as a Christian is regards to the Bible. Any person whether Christian or not, can start at number one. For background reading, go back to the first post in the Easter series: Why I Believe: Reason.
1. The New Testament is a set of valid historical documents which tell the truth about a man named Jesus Christ.
2. From these documents it is possible to observe what He did and what He said, to understand the claims He made about Himself, and to make a decision about who He is.
3. Those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Son of God are inexorably drawn to examine and believe His words in all matters–not to do so is a denial of confessing Him as Lord.
4. His continual use of the Hebrew Scriptures as authoritative to define and validate His teaching regarding God, man and His own personal ministry, clearly show He regarded the Hebrew Scriptures as the authoritative, inerrant Word of God.
5. He claimed God’s authority for His own words and told His apostles the Holy Spirit would come to further teach them, thereby giving the promise of revelation of God’s Word in what we now call the New Testament.
6. We can therefore conclude that Jesus taught that the Bible is the truthful and authoritative (verbal, plenary, infallible, inerrant, unlimited* inspiration) Word of God.
7. Those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord are thus compelled to the conclusion of St. Augustine, “When Scripture speaks, God speaks.”

My “Crazy” Conspiracy Theory
At the end of Sue’s Glass House post she asks the question of what the terrorists who want to kill all of us have to fear.
I went into a long rant in the comments section and thought I’d post it here for those who don’t want to read comments.
I have finally said what I’ve long thought. It may or may not be true, and it may or may not be crazy, but it’s what I think:
They fear nothing because Obama has told his “handler” there is nothing to fear.
Yes, I said the word “handler”. Strange, isn’t it that I once thought McCain was the Manchurian Candidate who was brainwashed and programmed to act a certain way when given the subconscious signal? Instead it seems to me to be Obama.
Yes, call me crazy. Maybe I am, but that bow to the King of Mecca seemed to me to be a message to his “handler” that he was proceeding as ordered and could be counted on to do what it is they want him to do, i.e. destroy this country with every means possible.
How to explain a guy who traveled to Pakistan when it was illegal for an American citizen to do so? He was poor. Where did he get the money for this exotic travel to a Muslim terrorist training ground? Who paid for the trip?
When he comes back, instead of going to his junior college in California he is suddenly bright enough and rich enough to be accepted at not one, but two ivy league colleges. He goes to Columbia and then takes his graduate work at Harvard Law.
Who sponsored and paid for his tuition and living expenses?
When he graduates from Harvard Law, after being the editor of the Harvard Law Review but not having any writings to show for it, he is supposedly offered a great job with a large law firm.
Instead, this poor man wants to go to Chicago, of all places and work as a “community organizer” for a paltry $12,000 per year.
He gets the right girlfriend/wife and begins to be noticed in the Chicago political circles. He gets elected to the state senate by destroying every other candidate in the primary and having them bumped off the ticket.
He does not stand out in the state senate but decides to run for US Senate with the Chicago Democratic political machine backing him. It doesn’t help that the press discloses some dirty laundry about his opponent’s divorce and the opponent drops out and Alan Keys is encouraged to carpet bag his way into Illinois politics. Result: Landslide for Obama. Just as planned.
He is not distinguished in the US Senate but decides to run for president after 2 years in named senate. He knocks off all competitors one by one as planned and then knocks off the republican candidate by making his vice presidential choice the object of the election.
The people are satisfactorily mesmerized and they elect him by hook or by crook. Some because of his race, because of guilt or pride. It doesn’t matter because he’s the one who brought it up all the time.
Meanwhile, he manages to pay off his and his wife’s student loans and we still see nothing in writing to show us what kind of scholar he was.
We can’t see a certified vault copy of his birth certificate because he has lawyers who have spent millions suppressing this information.
We can’t see college records because they might say something he doesn’t want us to know. Maybe he’s really not eligible to be president because he wasn’t really born in the United States. But, if it comes to light now there will be riots in the streets because the “people” won’t stand for it. He’s charismatic and he has changed the view of the US in three short months and three short trips. Changed the view for the worst.
But, hey, you’re getting a few bucks more in your paycheck this year and a $250 buyout on your Social Security check for now. Let’s not be too greedy. Be happy the Great One has deemed you worthy of his largesse. Only it’s your largesse and that of your great-great-great grandchildren for genearations to come. Wait til the bill comes due next year. By then the old snake charmer should have you even more completely under his spell and can do whatever he wants. Not that he can’t now. In the meantime, wait for Bush 43 and Cheney to be dragged to The Hague to stand trial for “war crimes” and no one will protest it.

Preempting Pravda & Interpreting Izvestia
Vladimir Bukovsky, the great anti-Soviet dissident, once reproved me for quoting the old joke about the two main official Soviet newspapers: “There’s no truth in Pravda [Truth] and no news in Izvestia [News.]” He pointed out that you could learn a great deal of truthful news from both papers if you read them with proper care.
In particular, they often denounced “anti-Soviet lies.” These lies had never previously been reported by them. Nor were they lies. And their exposure as such was the first that readers had been told of them. By reading the denunciation carefully, however, intelligent readers could decipher what the original story must have been. It was a roundabout way of getting information — but it worked.
John O’Sullivan wrote that in his article, The Song of the Kerry Boatmen, in National Review in the fall of 2004, a few months before the presidential election. (…Ah, good times, good times).
Bukovsky’s words offer insight to us as the Obamachination of the news ramps up to hype the “First 100 Days”.
When you live in a glass house………
Representative Pete Hoekstra writing in the Wall Street Journal takes the Obama administration to task on the release of formerly highly classified information defining the enhanced interrogation program:
Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair got it right last week when he noted how easy it is to condemn the enhanced interrogation program “on a bright sunny day in April 2009.” Reactions to this former CIA program, which was used against senior al Qaeda suspects in 2002 and 2003, are demonstrating how little President Barack Obama and some Democratic members of Congress understand the dire threats to our nation.
George Tenet, who served as CIA director under Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, believes the enhanced interrogations program saved lives. He told CBS’s “60 Minutes” in April 2007: “I know this program alone is worth more than the FBI, the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency put together have been able to tell us.”
Last week, Mr. Blair made a similar statement in an internal memo to his staff when he wrote that “[h]igh value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the al Qa’ida organization that was attacking this country.”
Yet last week Mr. Obama overruled the advice of his CIA director, Leon Panetta, and four prior CIA directors by releasing the details of the enhanced interrogation program. Former CIA director Michael Hayden has stated clearly that declassifying the memos will make it more difficult for the CIA to defend the nation.
It was not necessary to release details of the enhanced interrogation techniques, because members of Congress from both parties have been fully aware of them since the program began in 2002. We believed it was something that had to be done in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks to keep our nation safe. After many long and contentious debates, Congress repeatedly approved and funded this program on a bipartisan basis in both Republican and Democratic Congresses.

While the paragraph in bold above proves that this is nothing more than a political move aimed at appeasing a left voting block, Mr. Hoekstra’s final paragraph sums up this entire situation perfectly:
Perhaps we need an investigation not of the enhanced interrogation program, but of what the Obama administration may be doing to endanger the security our nation has enjoyed because of interrogations and other antiterrorism measures implemented since Sept. 12, 2001.
What exactly will this administration do if they are faced with an imminent attack on this country? Do they believe you can simply talk your way out of another 9-11 or worse?
As for investigations or “show trials,” either one does nothing more than embolden an enemy who under the former administration knew there would be a steep price to be paid for an attack on our homeland.
What is it they fear now?

An Event In History Worth Mentioning
There are countless important days in the history of the United States, and April 22nd, 1955 is certainly among them:
1955: Congress orders all US coins bear motto “In God We Trust”

The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War. Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase received many appeals from devout persons throughout the country, urging that the United States recognize the Deity on United States coins. From Treasury Department records, it appears that the first such appeal came in a letter dated November 13, 1861. It was written to Secretary Chase by Rev. M. R. Watkinson, Minister of the Gospel from Ridleyville, Pennsylvania, and read:
Dear Sir: You are about to submit your annual report to the Congress respecting the affairs of the national finances.
One fact touching our currency has hitherto been seriously overlooked. I mean the recognition of the Almighty God in some form on our coins.
You are probably a Christian. What if our Republic were not shattered beyond reconstruction? Would not the antiquaries of succeeding centuries rightly reason from our past that we were a heathen nation? What I propose is that instead of the goddess of liberty we shall have next inside the 13 stars a ring inscribed with the words PERPETUAL UNION; within the ring the allseeing eye, crowned with a halo; beneath this eye the American flag, bearing in its field stars equal to the number of the States united; in the folds of the bars the words GOD, LIBERTY, LAW.
This would make a beautiful coin, to which no possible citizen could object. This would relieve us from the ignominy of heathenism. This would place us openly under the Divine protection we have personally claimed. From my hearth I have felt our national shame in disowning God as not the least of our present national disasters.
To you first I address a subject that must be agitated.
It may have taken a while, but this is a clear instance where eventually Congress got it right.

Not being a fan of reality shows, I would have missed out on a couple of very enjoyable performances if it were not for the internet and YouTube.

Who knows if the producers or the judges have any motives in mind when these contestants are presented, and frankly, it should not matter.
What matters is that their talent has been discovered and unleashed for all of us to enjoy.

Imagine recording a YouTube video showcasing your talent and the next thing you know you are performing at Carnegie Hall.
Several months ago, YouTube launched a creatively collaborative, music-making experiment and competition that called on the site’s users to upload videos of themselves performing a piece of music by renowned Chinese composer Tan Dun.
The resulting uploads were viewed and voted on by fans and YouTube assembled the 90 winners into the first-ever YouTube Symphony Orchestra.
The ‘world premiere’ of the meta-mashup YTSO performance is now viewable online, however, this user-generated orchestra’s real-life musicians will also have the unique opportunity to perform live at Carnegie Hall in New York City on April 15th.

My mother was one of nine children of my grandmother’s and one of 18 children of my grandfather’s. Of my grandmother’s children six lived to adulthood and had children of their own.
Guss was the oldest of the cousins, followed by me a little less than a year later.
Because of the proximity of our houses all the cousins were like brothers and sisters and all the aunts were like second mothers.
Wednesday at 5:15 pm the last of Guss’ six siblings went to be with the Lord.
I called my uncle to tell him, only to be told by his wife that he was on his way by ambulance to the hospital with what sounds like dehydration from a stomach virus.
A double whammy in one hour. You know it happened but it doesn’t quite sink in at first.
You review the life of the one who has left us and pray for the one who is still here.
Goodnight, sweet Princess, and rest in the arms of Jesus forever and ever. I’ll meet you on the other side of the gate. Wait for us patiently. Your suffering is finally over.
I never told you, but I love you and I was so looking forward to seeing you in June. You stayed as strong as you could but you just didn’t have the strength to fight it off anymore. Go with God.
Tell Obama and Dems in Congress There Is No Hope and They Can Keep the Change
Today is tax day for all those Americans who have refused to give any money to the government before they are legally compelled to do so.

My husband and I plan to fly back to my home state of Maine in June. After reading this article I am convinced the TSA people will be convinced we are both “right wing extremists” and will be worthy of the full pat-down and check of body orifices including ears and nose.
Right-wing extremists in the United States are using economic worries and the election of the first black US president as recruiting tools, the US government warns in a new report.
Fears of possible new restrictions on firearms, as well as troubled veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, “could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violence attacks,” warned the US Department of Homeland Security.But DHS said in a secret April 7 advisory for local law-enforcement officials that threats so far had been “largely rhetorical” and had “not yet turned to attack planning.”
The department said it “has no specific information that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits” who could someday resort to attacks.
“The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers fo rightwing radicalization and recruitment,” according to the report.
The document, clearly marked as not for release to the media, was obtained by the Federation of American Scientists’ Project on Government Secrecy and made available on the organization’s web site.
The report said one “primary concern” for law enforcement officials was the “high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists” who fear potential future restrictions on firearms.
I’ll try to make sure I leave my guns at home when we leave, but since we carry them everywhere we go I don’t know if I can remember. 
Since our plane leaves around 6:00 am each way I guess we really will have to be at the airport at 4:00 am so we can get the “special” treatment.
They’ll have to check with the state where I now live to see which primaries we’ve voted in since we don’t register by party in South Carolina, but I’m sure it will not be a problem for Janet Napolitano and her gang of paranoid thugs.
Now, remember, I’m a grey-haired 61 year old, short woman with a bad back and legs, and my husband is a grey-haired 64 year old who is balding and having back and leg problems too. We certainly fit the profile as much as our great military who just can’t wait to come back home and kill everyone.
I have no evil intentions against this country or government and neither do most of the others, especially the ones who are sacrificing their lives every day to protect this country that has turned upside down since January 20, 2009.
I’m sick of people talking and accusing us of following radio hosts as if we don’t know how to think for ourselves. I listen to Limbaugh only if I happen to be going on an errand between 12 noon and 3:00 pm. Otherwise, I don’t listen, and believe me when I say I very seldom go on errands during that time frame.
My aunt, on the other hand, is flying up the same day from another city and we will meet up in Washington at Reagan airport. All they’ll have to do is check her voter registration and she should be fine since she’s a democrat. I won’t tell her age but she fits the profile about the way I do and I am always singled out for special treatment. I make sure my socks are very clean so no one talks about me while I’m being checked.
I really must find a bra that has plastic hooks on it because that always gets wanded and patted.
What Napolitano and a lot of people don’t understand is most of us on the right have no prejudice against African-American or any other people whose race is not the same as ours. We are a nation of mutts. Very few people are pure any ethnic group, but they keep calling it a race issue. I am against what Obama is doing to this country and what his white and non-white colleagues in Congress are doing to this once-great country.
I want my country to be great again and not because the leader bows to the king of Saudi Arabia.
God had it right when He didn’t want the Israelites to have a king, but they insisted and now we have government. We’d be so much better off without government the way it is in the United States now.
I have a pocket copy of the Constitution and it’s silent on a lot of issues. If the Constitution is silent on a topic it is then supposed to be the states that make laws regarding those issues such as abortion, education etc. Let’s get back to what the founders imagined and we’ll be stronger for it.
Tuesday Tid-Bits

A few days ago, a discussion about the death penalty broke out in the small, civil forum where I usually hang out. The argument quickly devolved into a debate about the validity of the conventional abstractions. Does the death penalty deter or not? How can the State justify taking a life as punishment for taking a life? A few of the anti’s brought up the Illinois experience, both the blanket clemency granted by outgoing Governor Homer Ryan in 2003 and the ‘exonerations’ claimed by the Northwestern project. (The word ‘exonerations’ is in quotes because there is much to wonder about in those claims. But that’s a subject for another day.)
Many an interesting discussion has ensued in my own home both with family and friends on this topic.

A Sad Day For Philadelphia Baseball
The voice of my hometown Philadelphia Phillies has gone home.
Harry Kalas has left a void in the broadcast booth which he has graced since 1971. They say we are all replaceable…well I don’t know about that. Baseball will go on, games will be called, but there will be a hole there for Phillie fans which cannot be filled.
A home run call will never be the same for those of us who have followed this team over the years. Should there ever be another World Series Championship brought to Philly, the final out will not be called by a man Phillie fans grew to love.
To his family, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
While Harry was known for his play by play (oh that wonderful voice), he was much, much more.
It was moments like this…
for which he will always be remembered and admired.
Goodnight Harry, rest well..you earned it.

Why quote the Founders? Why discuss ideas? I have seen derisive comments made scoffing at the deliberation of thought among conservatives, but activism without an understanding of your motivation or the consequences of your actions can sometimes take you where you really don’t want to go.
In the history of our nation prior to the Revolution, a long period of suppression of previously given rights fomented anger and unrest. Outrage was expressed in both ideas and actions. As thoughts and events coalesced, the nation was born and The Declaration of Independence became the apologia for the American Revolution. As the Framers of the Constitution met, they debated ideas and their consequences because they sought to establish a government that would secure our unalienable rights. The Founders argued and deliberated because they had no desire for the Revolution and its subsequent government to take us into chaos and tyranny.
