Friday Fly-By

Fox News is constantly accused of being less than “fair and balanced.”

These numbers reveal something a bit different:

With the second quarter coming to a close, Fox News averaged about the same number of viewers as the top three other cable news networks combined. And while rivals including CNN (-22%) and MSNBC (-18%) took hits following last quarter’s inauguration-fueled boost, Fox News (-3%) remained nearly steady.

Can’t they all be friends?[sarc-off]

House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-Wisc.) and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) engaged in a late afternoon shouting match on the House floor after Obey reportedly rebuffed Waters on a $1 million earmark request, aides and witnesses said.

Here’s something you won’t see (at least I hope not) when visiting your local zoo:

  • The Woolworth’s menu brings back memories when I could get a coke for almost nothing and could afford it because I had almost nothing in my pocket.

I remember working from 1965-1968 and having lunch hour to kill. I would go to the WT Grant’s store and order a simple sandwich, chips and drink and spend a little over a dollar for the whole thing. Then I would browse and pick up nylons for fifty cents a pair.

On Saturdays I would go across the street to Sears and have a lunch that included french fries, greasy and tasty Smile . All for a dollar or two or less, with a hamburger or egg salad sandwich. The toasted BLT’s were the greatest at all these lunch counters.

Those were the days. Thanks for the memories, and thanks to your email friend who sent this to you.
