This Political Junkie Has Crashed

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

The wall has been hit.
This he said, he said, they said, she said election cycle has taken its toll.
Later will be soon enough (for me) to have the desire to read one more word about either of the two men who are the leading contenders for the big chair. Heck, it seems [...]

Those Pesky Campaign Ads

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

The following are the most recent national campaign ads the two presumptive presidential nominees have approved for distribution.
First, John McCain’s ad which began airing this past week:

Now Senator Obama’s ad which will begin airing on Friday:

Now, if you knew absolutely nothing about these two individuals would either of these ads sell you on their capacity [...]

What??????

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

When I read or hear a statement such as this:
“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said. “Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”
it just adds to the list of things which leave me less than inspired about our choices [...]

A Billion Dollar Presidency?

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

When we consider the amount of cash that has been spent in recent elections, (local and otherwise) then the percentages below of returned illegal contributions could be considered relatively low.

While this WSJ emphasizes the Clinton campaign, it is clear from the chart that none of the current presidential candidates has escaped this problem.
And, [...]

“Rediscover Your Party” an NRCC Video Production

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Civic responsibility in the form of Jury Duty calls today so I will not be posting the traditional Tuesday Tid-Bits.
I did however see this interesting video at the NRCC website which defines a series which has recently been completed.
The NRCC recently sat down with several Members of Congress to ask them about the [...]

Computer Went Kaput; Body Going Kaput

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Sue called me Wednesday morning to tell me her computer had died. I spoke to her later and she said her neighbor, who is a computer guru, had checked it out and it was half-way working, but resting at the time while she and her husband took advantage of the good weather and did [...]

Indiana Voter ID Law Upheld

Monday, April 28th, 2008

The Supreme Court today voted 6-3 to uphold the common sense practice of Voter ID in the state of Indiana:
The law “is amply justified by the valid interest in protecting ‘the integrity and reliability of the electoral process,’” Justice John Paul Stevens said in an opinion that was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and [...]

X for President

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Aspiring to be President of the United States is X.
X has accepted no funds either from special interest groups, major corporations or lobbyists. He/She sells their character and ideas to the public, they do not purchase the office.
X is a man/woman who has lived a simple, honest, “regular” life. Perhaps he/she has worked [...]

Jules Crittenden on John McCain

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

Not much time for commentary today, but I did not want to go without sharing the following:
What is undeniable is that the single greatest threat the United States faces is that in four years, Iraq is abandoned, chaos and genocide take hold there, and the great expenditure of precious American blood and treasure there is [...]

Today Matters

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

This stirring recitation of the Declaration of Independence was delivered prior to the big game on Sunday.
On this important day in the political process in our country, what better reminder could there be of our obligations.
If you live in a Super Tuesday state, please go vote.

**If [...]

For those who like to follow primary election news, here is a link with information on the New Hampshire recount.

When pigs fly, then I might make this vow…no, not even if pigs flew

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

What in the name of blazes is this all about?
Open primaries in which voters don’t have to be a member of a party to vote for its candidates have long been a thorn in the sides of national Democrats and Republicans. Now, according to the Associated Press, Virginia’s G.O.P. is going to [...]

According to Sky News Prime Minister John Howard has been defeated in Australia’s latest election:
Australia’s opposition Labor Party has claimed victory in the national elections, ending 11 years of John Howard’s Conservative government, the party’s deputy leader has said.

What’s old is new, over and over again…..

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Well, it’s Thursday and I have searched the news sites, read through the blogs I frequent and looked through the on-line news magazine articles offered.
Maybe it’s me, but I have found nothing which is not old, rehashed news laced with a new opinion here or there.
Seriously, how many ways can you say we [...]

Atlantic City, out of the frying pan and into the fire…time and time again

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

We all read of the corruption in politics in Washington. The bloated earmarks from which many of us never see any benefits, problems with lobbyists who get their hooks into elected officials and never cut them loose and constant campaign mode for all offices which precludes accomplishing anything worthwhile for citizens is rampant.
Well, in [...]

Would a Clinton Presidency be Supported by the Leaders of Terrorist Organizations?

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Aaron Klein from World Net Daily put together an on the record interview with terrorist leaders in order to get their thoughts on our upcoming presidential election.
According to Klein, here is a sample of their thoughts:
“I hope Hillary is elected in order to have the occasion to carry out all the promises she is giving [...]

Third Party? Be Careful What You Ask For

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

I’ve been reading around the internet that there is a report that a group of Christian leaders met privately in Salt Lake City. The purpose was to clandestinely plan to get a third party candidate that would meet every one of their goals for issues in the election.
I have no idea if this is true [...]

Why not Monday or Sunday or Wednesday?

Friday, September 28th, 2007

A bit of history for this Friday Morning.

I decided to have a look at Whytuesday.org and while it appears to be in its infant stages, I think the potential for drawing an audience is visible.
The fact that their blog and vlog rolls are bi-partisan will allow for many opinions and voices to be heard. [...]

Will Voter ID be approved by order of the US Supreme Court?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Personally, I hope so. All this nonsense about disenfranchising certain voters and this being about the color of someone’s skin has gone far beyond sensibility.
When the United States Supreme Court addresses the issue early next year, their ultimate decision could affect elections in this country for years.
The Supreme Court said on Tuesday it [...]

A small bite out of voter fraud

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

Every state in this Union should have a voter identification system, period. This nonsense of claiming a persons rights would be violated by something as simple as a state issued photo card with not only proof of residency, but also proof of citizenship, is poppycock.
It should matter not to law abiding Americans [...]
