The Only Government That Matters is the Eternal One
Here is a song of invitation to accept Jesus as your Savior:
Yesterday an old friend, INC, came by for a visit and pointed me to two beautiful hymns. The second is here.
I was as moved as possible when I heard these two beautiful hymns sung one after the other, just as INC first heard them a few years ago. It has changed my mind about contemporary Christian music and I will now listen with an ear that doesn’t just hear the sounds of a rock band, but ears that hear of the love of God.
We have talked about politics here a lot, and will continue to do so, but to those of us who have been born again this world is not our home. We’re just passing through. Our Lord, Master, Savior and God is preparing mansions for those who believe and accept Him as their Savior. Not just houses, but mansions we cannot even imagine.
I care about my country and the fact Obama has done so much destruction in such a short time and the refusal of many to admit they were wrong when they voted for him, but I believe there are enough born-again Christians in this country still that our prayers for God to stay the hand of Obama will be answered unless God has a higher purpose that works to the beginning of our eternity.
Please listen to the beautiful hymns recommended by INC. Close your eyes and listen to the words and if you have the need to pray for any reason please do so. God hears the prayers of sinners, but the first prayer He hears from us is the one asking to be forgiven of our sins.
May you be as blessed as I have been with these hymns.
Thank you, INC.
I Fell on My Knees and Cried “Holy!”
How would you like to enjoy a Thanksgiving with a group of people like this singing for you? Unfortunately for us, many of these dear saints are already in Heaven and that’s wonderful for them.
Enjoy. Yes, that’s Larry Gatlin in the beginning.
In the Sweet Bye and Bye
This hymn has special significance to me.
When my grandmother lay dying, in a semi-coma, we somehow were the only ones in the house. I sat next to her bed and held her hand and told her “They tell me you’re going to leave me in a few days. I want you to know how much I love you and will miss you, but we’ll see each other again.”
I then thought of the following song, but I couldn’t remember the words to the main part of the song; only the chorus (where the men join in).
As I hummed the hymn I then picked up on the chorus: In the sweet bye and bye, we shall meet on that beautiful shore. In the sweet bye and bye we shall meet on that beautiful shore.”
I then had one of the most precious experiences of my life as my beloved grandmother squeezed my hand as I sang those words. Even though she was in a semi-coma she was telling me she knew what I was saying and was agreeing with it.
It’s a memory I’ll take to my grave.
I hope you like the song.
Hello, God
Father, I have sinned against you tonight due to anger brought on me by someone else. I ask your forgiveness because if not, I cannot face the world. Cover my sin in the blood of Jesus and cleanse me till I am white as snow. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
My Life in a Song
I’m still suffering the after-effects of the Niaspan. The room is spinning now, but I wanted to share this with you.
This is the story of my life:
Thank you, Jesus, for touching me and my family. I am forever grateful and one day You will give me the words to adequately express my joy and love for You.
We Shall Behold Him!
I’m having a sporadic internet connection and want to get this post up before it goes down again.
Please listen to Sandi Patty sing “We Shall Behold Him” and wait for the end when she hits a note that will give you chills.
The lady she hugs at the end is Dottie Rambo, the writer of this song with such beautiful promise. Not just hope, but promise.
Harlem Gospel Choir
Sunday promises to be a very busy day for me, as I am sure it will be for many of you, so I thought I’d just share a bit of inspirational music for today.
Enjoy your Sunday.
For Your Listening Pleasure—And Mine
Gospel music is my favorite genre of music. I love Lynda Randle because she has such a beautiful voice, and because her key is one I can sing.
Listen to this beautiful song of praise, “I’m Free”:
When my mother died I wanted “Peace, Be Still” as sung by Candy Hemphill Christmas to be played at her funeral.
Since I was in Maine, and had only the video version of the song I called my neighbor, who is a gospel singer, to ask if he had it on CD or tape. He didn’t, but he called Candy’s father who offered to FedEx it to me so I could use it.
As it turned out my cousins had a recording studio and were able to transfer this song, that means so very much to me, to tape.
It comforted my heart and I hope it does yours too.
May God bless you and may you have a wonderful beginning to your weekend.
