A Little Something From My Email Box

This video came to me via email and was so beautiful (both the music and the images), that I just wanted to share it with our readers.

Every picture tells a story.

This one tells a tale of character, kindness, and humility.

Some have it, some don’t.

Tuesday Tid-Bits

Coffee Joe Namath, Golda Meir, the Chicago 8, Arafat, Woodstock, and so much more.

These were the faces and events which defined the year 1969.

Coffee Please vote (no registration required).

MarineParents is in the running to win $3,000! They can’t do it without YOU though because the winning charity will be the one with the most votes. Voting ends at 9 p.m. Eastern Time July 21

Coffee Has Barack Obama successfully sidelined Hillary Clinton?

The Telegraph believes it to be true:

If President Obama’s goal in appointing Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State was to neutralize his biggest rival, he has certainly succeeded. Clinton looks a shadow of her former self, and has been the most low-key Secretary of State in recent times. Her immediate predecessors Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell were far more prominent figures on the world stage during their first six months in office. Clinton, in contrast, looks tired, disinterested, and largely going through the motions.

Coffee The folks at Let Freedom Ring are in the midst of a brilliant campaign to weed out those in Congress who will not commit to actually reading a health care bill prior to voting in favor of it:

Those signing on to the pledge as of yesterday are available at the link above. If your Congressperson is not on the list, give he/she a call and inquire as to why not. I’d love to hear the answers.

Enjoy!

Thought this from Pundit Review was well worth passing along:

I had some time to kill yesterday in Washington DC so I did what any good history buff/political junkie would do. Sightseeing! One of the few things left in Washington DC that I had not seen was the Ford Theater and Petersen House.

The post is laden with terrific pictures of both the Ford Theater and the interior of the home where Lincoln died.

Coffee Lisa Fabrizio touches on many bullet points which can and should be addressed by Republicans in the coming months.

I agree with the never give up attitude of the post, but the burning question remains; as divided as we have become, at this point will be preaching only to the choir?

Coffee A dose of realism at American Thinker:

We were once a nation that assumed responsibility for the needs of our own family. Never would we expect our food or housing to be provided by anyone other than ourselves and we worked hard as proud providers. Over the last twenty years, we’re become a country that views itself as “entitled” and deserving of governmental provision of shelter, transportation, education and of course health care. We’re sucking our thumb, curled up in the fetal position on the lap of a lactating Nanny state. However, when the government provides what is standard government colostrums we’re shocked, appalled and dissatisfied with the stipulations.

We’ve eagerly elected politicians who are “changing” America into something against the grain of who and what we’ve historically been, yet we’re still expecting what we’ve been used to — just minus a monthly statement of any kind. Sorry comrades it doesn’t work that way. American’s are about to find out that “cold cheese sandwiches” are government cuisine and like it or not we’re going to have to gag down dry sandwiches, warm WIC milk and a mealy, rotten apple if we don’t wake-up in a hurry.

How about this for picture of the week?

Senator DeMint has shown great courage lately through his actions in the Senate. Calling for a vote on the Fairness Doctrine as early as next week would be another moment worth watching:

Sen. Jim DeMint announced that he will force a vote next week on a bill that prevents the Federal Communications Commission from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine.

The South Carolina Republican’s bill, the Broadcaster Freedom Act, is cosponsored by John Thune, R-S.D., and 27 others and will be offered as an amendment to the D.C. Voting Rights bill…

Let’s get it out in the open. America should see how each of their elected officials lean on this matter.

Cowards, huh? That’s a heck of a thing for a Attorney General of the United States to say.

Here is the best take down of Holder’s statement I have read to date.

If anyone can tie coffee, the courts and the porkfest legislation into one neat package it is Alfonzo Rachel..just watch:

A Photographer’s Gift to History

As a photographer this would be one job you would not soon forget:

“I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but it’s an amazing position. Every day, even eight years down the road, it’s still just as interesting.”

What a job…what memories to carry the rest of your life!

Whoa!

Imagine working on an oil rig and taking a photograph of what you believe to be an oncoming thunderstorm but a strike of lightening shows something far more ominous:

As was expressed in the email which included this picture..it is probably one in a million. Amazing don’t you think?

Architecture As Art

Talk about living in a maze!

Unfortunately, there was no information available with the photo.

Personally, I would love to have just five minutes with the architect who designed what appears to be an apartment complex. Bet he/she had a great imagination as a child!

Same dreams just different locations

Thanks to Mrs. Greyhawk at Mudville Gazette for the link to this post from Eric at Zen Traveler.

We went to a ballet school in central Baghdad today and did a story on the school and its students.

The pictures at the above site are priceless. They serve to reaffirm what most of us already know. Children everywhere have the same aspirations and dreams. How priceless.

Photos from years gone by

Amazing color photography from the Great Depression and World War II.

For history buffs, this is a bonanza.

These vivid color photos from the Great Depression and World War II capture an era generally seen only in black-and-white. Photographers working for the United States Farm Security Administration (FSA) and later the Office of War Information (OWI) created the images between 1939 and 1944.

Two sites worthy of a visit

For some terrific pictures from Fallujah, Iraq, check out those posted by Bill Ardolino at INDC Journal. I attempted to select a favorite but it was impossible.

Also, Mike Yon has a new three part dispatch, “Hunting Al Qaeda Part I of III.”

A few months ago we called them terrorists. Today we call them Concerned Local Nationals. When we were in a good mood, we used to call them illegal or rogue militias. Now we call them Neighborhood Watches, or in this case, “Baqubah Guardians.” It’s truly working well. They do not have uniforms and most who wish to join have not been hired as policemen yet.

A fascinating read as always.
