Well, the last phone call from home was made to my fellow Pennsylvanian’s today.

The facts have been laid as bare as they could be on both presidential candidates and those running for lower offices.

Sometime tomorrow night (hopefully) we will know who will lead this great nation for at least the next four years. The challenges we may face will be great, but as long as we hold a firm grasp on our values I believe we will be okay no matter the outcome.

One thing I choose to remember is that this nation was not made grand by any one man in the White House nor those who sit in Congressional Offices. It was built brick by brick by those who have toiled, sweat and died for it’s mere existence.

That is the simple beauty of America and American’s.

Via Confederate Yankee:

North Carolina voters are more likely than those in other states to cast ballots in national elections without making a choice for president.

Unlike many states, a straight-party vote in North Carolina does not cast a vote for president. A ballot expert says the split makes it more likely that voters, especially new voters, will leave their polling places failing, by mistake, to vote for president.

[emphasis-mine]

If you reside in North Carolina do not miss the balance of the above post!

Very important information for military voters submitting absentee ballots in the state of Virginia:

The State of Virginia announced that a number of Uniformed Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) members submitted Federal Write-In Absentee Ballots (FWAB) which will not be counted due to administrative errors. Virginia requires FWABs submitted as both an absentee ballot application and as a voted ballot contain both the witness’ signature and the witness’ address to be counted in the General Election. Having consulted both FVAP and the Virginia Absentee Voter Office, we recommend that voters who submitted the FWAB as both their application and their ballot complete a Federal Postcard Application (FPCA) and email it to their county voter registration office NLT 1700 28 OCT 08. Once the FPCA arrives, the voted ballot already on hand becomes valid and will be counted. The Army Voting Action Officer is emailing this information to the Senior Voting Assistance Officers (SVAOs) and Installation Voting Assistance Officers (IVAOs) for dissemination and action by voters. See your Unit Voting Assistance Officer (UVAO) for assistance

This was taken from an email I received. (Click the arrow to listen)

Are you as dumbstruck as I was?

Nothing ever changes in the city of Philadelphia when it comes to an election:

If anything shows you just how screwed up things are in Philadelphia, check out this story. Seems that local Democrat politicos are getting antsy because the Obama campaign hasn’t committed itself to giving them “street money”, which they claim to need in order to get people out to vote.

What’s so fascinating isn’t so much that they want it, it’s that they are so blatant in demanding it and justifying it.

If you are concerned about voter fraud thenVote Fraud Squad is for you.

The Voter Integrity Project is a non-partisan project to help the American voter report and expose incidences of vote fraud and vote suppression, in order to ensure a more fair, open, and democratic election process.

Good stuff!

Strict voter ID laws are the only solution I see to problems like these:

Plus, more on voter fraud in Nevada, and Missouri. If Baptists were doing what ACORN has been doing, the press would be all over it, 24/7 . . . .

More:

ACORN “currently under investigation in fourteen states.” That one sentence speaks volumes especially when you consider their checkered past.

*Update: I felt this information might be valuable in ascertaining how widespread this problem really is:

ACORN has been implicated in voter-fraud schemes in 15 states - including Ohio, from where The Post’s Jeane MacIntosh reports today that a Board of Elections investigation has unearthed evidence of widespread voter fraud.

Two voters told MacIntosh they had been dragooned by ACORN activists into registering several times - one reporting having signed up “10 to 15″ times.

ACORN canvassers “would ask me if I was registered,” he said. “I’d say yes and they’d ask me to do it again.”

Tuesday, Nevada officials raided ACORN’s Las Vegas offices as part of a probe into voter-registration fraud - noting that some forms submitted by ACORN workers included the names of Dallas Cowboys players.

Officials in Lake County, Ind. report that fully 1,100 of 2,000 new voter-registration forms delivered by ACORN were “suspicious.”

In Washington state, officials recently closed an investigation into ballot cheating that resulted in prison terms.

ACORN submitted more than 800 phony registration forms in Independence, Mo., with one woman registering 10 times, using three birthdates, four different Social Security numbers and six different phone numbers.

And, as The Post reported Monday, another pro-Obama group, Vote Today Ohio, took advantage of a quirk in that state’s law, which allows people to register and vote on the same day without having to prove residency, to drive hundreds of people from homeless shelters and drug-rehab centers to the polls.

I don’t believe the emphasis should be on which candidate is supported most by these activities. All candidates nationwide should denounce such tactics and sever all ties to those organizations found to be in violation of election laws.

A legitimate vote should never be threatened by a fraudulent one. The individuals involved in these activities should be rounded up by law enforcement and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The Supreme Court today voted 6-3 to uphold the common sense practice of Voter ID in the state of Indiana:

The law “is amply justified by the valid interest in protecting ‘the integrity and reliability of the electoral process,’” Justice John Paul Stevens said in an opinion that was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Anthony Kennedy.

Now if only all other states would follow suit it might help restore real confidence in our electoral process.

If you wish to follow the results of the following states primaries,

On February 9, Republicans are holding caucuses in Kansas and Washington; Democrats are holding caucuses in Nebraska and Washington; and both parties are holding primaries in Louisiana. For the Republicans, as many as 74 delegates are tied to Saturday’s events, while 158 delegates are at stake for the Democrats.

they will be available this evening here.

A bit of history for this Friday Morning.

I decided to have a look at Whytuesday.org and while it appears to be in its infant stages, I think the potential for drawing an audience is visible.

The fact that their blog and vlog rolls are bi-partisan will allow for many opinions and voices to be heard.

I’ll keep an eye out and if there is anything new and inspiring, I’ll pass it along.
