Turning My Eyes Upon Jesus

With all the turmoil in the world today and the state of our country, I have found myself asking Jesus to cleanse my heart and soul of all unrighteousness and to let me focus on Him instead of the material things of the world.

I don’t know what the future holds for this country or for my husband and me. We don’t know if we will be wiped out financially or be able to survive until the Lord calls us Home, but we don’t worry about tomorrow because we know Who holds tomorrow and we know He hold our hands.

Michael W. Smith has one of the most beautiful renditions of the hymn “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” I have ever heard and I want to share it with you.

When I Could I Didn’t Want To; Now That I Want To, I Can’t

More and more I want to worship God in the position I should worship Him, instead of sitting on a chair or the edge of my bed.

There’s a saying that “When I could bow down to God I didn’t want to. Now that I want to I can’t.”

In reality I should be praying prostrate on my face but if I did that the Holy Spirit would have to reach down and literally pick me up. Years of softball, volleyball, trying to run, using a treadmill etc. have taken a toll on my knees and I find I cannot get down on them and get up properly or even to be comfortable while on my knees.

I contacted The Anchoress and asked her if she knew any places that sold prayer stools. They are properly called Prie Dieu and she sent me to several sites.

I found one site that actually made prayer kneelers without all the other hardware and expense.

Here’s a photo of what I got in the mail yesterday:

kneelpad

I’ve used it and it is definitely easier on the knees, but I find my back hurts immensely while using it. I therfore called my brother and asked him if he could go to the site and see if he could make a full prie dieu for me. That way I can put my bible and prayer list on it while having my devotions.

He asked how tall I am and ordered the wood so he can make it for me according to my size. When I go to Maine I will be able to pick it up and UPS it to myself here at home.

I usually awake with a hymn in my head. Today I awoke with the Israeli national anthem in my head. I take that as a signal to pray even more for Israel.

If you are looking for a kneeler to make you more comfortable I recommend checking out Kneeler.com. I called Don and he’s a wonderful man. He does what he says he’ll do for a fair price and in the specified time.
